I'm not sure. I mean, some of them don't do this but it seems that most of them on here do. I've answered a question before about this so I've come up with the reasons why we don't want to hear it:
I have all respect for Christians. They can choose to believe in God if they want, if that's what truly makes them happy and at peace.I however, choose not to. Simple as that. And I don't appreciate being pushed into believeing something I've already whole-heartedly chosen not to.
One answer somebody posted on a question here really disturbed me... I forget what the question was, but the answerer said "All Athiests will burn in hell when they die". Alright...so I'm going to burn eternally in some imaginary evil place that there is no proof of it's existence and I don't believe in, when I die? Okay, since you seem to know so much about my future, how many more times will I go to the bathroom today? Lol...maybe that's a poor argument (about the bathroom thing) and I'm speaking out of anger but that's just how I feel.
I can believe whatever I want to believe...don't try to make me think otherwise.

There are some people who will push their religion upon you because they are so furvent in their own beliefs. That pushing tends to hurt God as well as other christians. Instead of blantantly talking your ear off if they truly wanted to get you to become a christian they would end up showing you how God works through them.
So in talking to you, this is what I would do. Follow the scriptures and allow you to come to me. I would pray for you, but I would not bash you. That is not how God would do it anyways.
If you or another atheist have an issue with what christians arew doing then you might want to ask them the following. Are you professing God's greatness for God or for yourself? They might take a look at themselves and back off.
Remember the following "Remove the plank out of your own eye before removing the splinter out of another's"

I am a Christian but I do not believe that preaching one's beliefs forcefully unto someone else is not a good thing to do, even though the Bible says we should "spread the gospel." I hate being preached myself by other religions. All you fellow Christians who bug people who are not Christian, **** you, even YOU annoy ME. Why can't we just keep our beliefs within our own circles? My best friend is an Atheist and we don't bug each other about our beliefs. "Boo hoo, they don't believe the same things I believe so I am going to shove my beliefs down their throats until they give in." Forceful preaching only spreads hate. I know I am not as God fearing as most Christians, I am more like,"So God, how many sinners are YOU going to smite today? lol. Hey dude, tell your son to get his lazy *** out of bed and come back down here already!" Do not even pay attention to Christians who preach at you. If you respond to them with a hateful message they will just keep bugging you, just ignore them, "shoo fly, shoo!"

Because many Christians believe as part of their religion that they have to spread the word and save as many people as possible and work at it until it happens or they aren't "believing" hard enough; their not doing all they can for Jesus who has done everything for them. I, as a Christian, think it's too bad that so many don't believe, but I'm not going to try to get them to. Nothing I can say or do is going to change their minds or they'd already believe.

because people with faith find it hard to believe that there are people out there that can not possibly believe and part of a christians duty so to speak is to spread the word of god and try to lead the lost to salvation.......however i am a christian and my husband is an athiest and i would never dream of pushing my religion on him and he doesnt push his "non-belief" back on me not al christians are pushy

It's because proselytization is a part and parcel of the Christian religion.
Why?
They feel that you will not be saved unless you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. It's "unfair" for God to damn people who haven't even had a chance to know about Jesus Christ, and so they consider it to be their Christian duty to try to correct this unfairness by giving everyone in the world a chance to know Jesus Christ. That way, if non-believers go to Hell, then it will be their own damned fault, because they were given a chance to save themselves.
We secular humanists see the sinister thought process that's behind this, but they're apparently oblivious to it.

To us, you are playing blindfolded in the middle of a busy interstate highway. We can see the large truck bearing down on you that you don't see. You don't see them because you choose to live with your blindfold on.
We want you to live!!
We can see your impending death. It frustrates us that you don't even care. You respond that you don't believe in the truck (or the highway for that matter) and therefore you don't need to be saved.
Now here's a significant point. Just because you don't believe it's there does not make it so! We can see something that you can't.
I've never seen a Boeing 747. I could believe with all my heart and with total sincerity that Boeing 747s don't exist because I've never seen one. Sure, people have been telling me for years that 747s are real and that I can get from one continent to another inside of one, but I don't believe them because I've never seen one. Then I could go talk to a Boeing engineer and tell HIM that 747s don't exist. Can you imagine how ignorant I would sound?
Back to the highway. If someone you loved was playing in the highway and you saw the truck coming, would say something or would you let them die? If they refused to believe you, would you try harder to convince them, or would you just let them die? Remember, this isn't some stranger; this is someone you love dearly. At what point would you give up and let them have their way in ignorance KNOWING that you have knowledge that WOULD save their life?
We're not trying to force our beliefs on you so that you'll join our club instead of theirs. We're trying to save your life. You're in the highway. Worst is, you're not even completely oblivious to it. You've been told that you're in the highway. You've been told that the truck is coming. Every day you are choosing to disregard our warnings. At what point would you like us to stop trying to save your life? You can bet that we won't. Every soul is precious and valuable to God.

I personally think that proselytising is rude and disrespectful. The reason some people do it is because there's a mandate in the bible that asks them to do so. Most of them are well meaning, some are just nutz.
If you don't like it, tell them politely to stop. Just say you're not interested. End of conversation.

They're on a mission from god. If they don't tell others about their faith they will die just like the rest of us. You see, they just aren't responsible for their own life, their god holds them responsible for other peoples lives too. Nice guy, this god fellow.
You can't be a passive Christain and go to Heaven

why do atheists push their beliefs on Christians?
I am a Christian and I personally believe it wrong to push your beliefs on anyone. It is a Christian's job to tell others what they believe but they can't make anyone believe. Also check your offensive meter...maybe you are freaking out and saying they are pushing when your just being to offended? just a thought.
