Since Australia is upside down, plants have a very difficult time there. The leaves and flowers end up under the ground, while the bare roots are left to blow in the wind. It's no wonder that most of the plants die, and that is why so much of Australia is a desert. -- Mr. Science.

A seed in Australia would grow both up and down.
The leafy stems would grow towards light/sun/up. The roots would grow towards moisture/nutrients/down.
This is a generalization but it's pretty much the same everywhere.

You answered your own question by including the word "up."
No matter where you are on the planet, up is up... the ONLY exception is at the absolute center of the Earth's gravity -- from that one point, every direction is up and there is no down.

well in OZ, all seeds grow downwards, that's why we have just got lots of roots in the air here and no plants, no flowers, fruit or vegetables, and we have to buy them from the northern hemisphere, which is where they come up, so you lot up there have got all our flowers and fruit, and we want them back!!!!!
