I'm not atheist or christian, but I've been watching these questions for awhile now, and I want to know why you people hate each other so much that you will make ignorant statements like "Christianity is fake" "the bible isn't real" etc. If you're going to say that kind of stuff, why not back it up with your own truth since you don't believe in truth...?

Christians: I sometimes get the feeling that you're nice to people in your own group, but act indifferent to nonbelievers...how is this possible the first comandment is love?

I worded that wrong, I meant since you don't believe in other people's truth, why not make up your own?

Well, I don't know about hate, but I can see using the word dislike. People often look down their noses on other people--maybe not just because they're not christian or atheist--but because of income or marital status. It comes down to respect-When people start respecting others beliefs and opinions, the world will be a better place.

The atheists and many other groups hate Christians because we claim to be the only way to heaven. Exclusivity is not liked if you are not a part of it.

As far as being not nice to nonbelievers. There are bad seeds in every group. I know many who claim to be christian, yet do and say things that are completely opposed to christian beliefs. We should respect everyone, however we have the commandment to share the good news of Jesus Christ to everyone. If someone continually denies Christ, at some point a christian has to go on and may therefore seem indifferent to the person since there is nothing more we can do to help him believe.

I don't hate Xtians. I do not like their actions and hostility towards others (what happened to unconditional love?). All I think the atheists want is for a Xtian, to think for themselves rather than blindly quote the bible or regurgitate what a preacher has told them. I don't think anyone wants to make Xtians believe anything else. There is no way, however, to prove that the Bible is real or not. It is very real as a book, but if everything you've every known about that book is meant to be 100% true, and you are told that if you doubt anything you don't have faith and you are going to loose your god, then you hold on to that book kicking and screaming, if for no other reason, then as proof that you are faith full.
On the other hands, those who don't give two rats a s s e s for that book. Just want people to see it for what they think it is about (stories and myths to learn from) nothing more, nothing less. They feel that they are talking to irrational mindless drones.

Truth is subjective. Atheists certainly believe in truth, they just believe in a different "fact based truth" as opposed to a "faith based truth." Ultimately I think both sides are guilty of pushing each others buttons and poking at each other with point sticks.

It can be fun to get a charge out of someone. Stir the cauldron so to speak.

Great question. Most Christians don't hate athiests. Unfortunately, some do get intimidated because they can not adequately defend their view without saying, it's faith. You either beliee or you go to hell. Some athiest ask legitimate questions. I'm a christian and I don't hate athiests. I don't appreciate some of their actions, and I am sure they feel the same about me. I can engage in a conversation without getting upset.

What we all fail to understand is the other person's feelings. We are insensitive to them. I often say that athiests are not real because if they really don't believe in God, then they would not work so hard to prove that He does not exist. That is strictly from my perspective. If I am wrong, and sincere (sincerely wrong), why can't a person who opposes my view explain to me without being offended.

You can't tell me that the Bible isn't real, if it has been real in my life. That is like telling someone that someone else doesn't love them. How do I know how someone makes another feel?

Anywho... I can go on, but I thought this was a great question. So I'm giving you ten points.

E-mail me and as a typical Christian, I will give you information to attempt to persuade you to believe in Christ for salvation.

My personal view is that a lot of people react out of fear, or anger, confusion, or all of the above and more. I don't mean to speak for atheists, but my thoughts are that they possibly might be fearful of believing in something that there is no proof of. However, no one can offer any proof that God isn't there, either. That's why it's a matter of faith to begin with. I think, too, that they might be fearful, or angry about the responsibilty that comes with accepting the Faith. I'm probably wrong, but that's my opinion.

You are right, though, in your statements about some Christians. We do have a greater responsibilty to live our lives as Christ did. We are the Body of Christ. Anywhere that we go, we are making Christ present. But if we aren't living our lives according to Christ, then what kind of example are we setting? How can we expect others to know and love Christ if they don't see Him in our lives? I, myself, fail miserably at it all the time. That's why I have to pray a lot and go to confession a lot, :).

You are correct. We are to love one another, as Christ commanded. If we did just that one thing, this world would be a whole different place.

God bless,

Danny

I disagree , atheists do not hate anyone, they simply don't share the Christian belief in a God. Sometimes less is more..sometimes the truth doesn't need to be embellished with false hope and fictional gods..other than that I don't know what point you are making!

You seem to be sitting on the fence and getting a sore bum for no good reason other than to try and stay out of the argument..one day you will need to come down on one side or the other and give your support to whatever it is you think is the truth.

How strange that the "Godfather of Green Bay" is answering a question from the "Mafia Princess"...
Anyway... I am a Christian and do not hate Atheists. Nor do I believe Atheists hate Christians. I believe we have differing views. I believe in God. O.K. I also believe the Packers may make it back to the Super Bowl. I believe in a lot of things other people don't... but that doesn't mean I hate them. I would welcome and Atheist in my home and to share a meal. I would pray before I ate my meal... but I would do it to myself, as not to offend my guest. In the same way, if I were invited to dine in the home of an Atheists, I would pray silently before the meal as not to offend my host. There is not hate. Just disagreement. That's o.k.

Generally people with strong opinions are the ones to speak out for any belief, cause e.t.c which I think gives the wrong impression. There are plenty of Christians and atheists who don't feel the need to express their opinion one way or another.
If either belief could be unequivocally proved that would be interesting - or would it?

Some religions can use mind control techniques such as hypnosis (see link), emotional blackmail (if you don't believe this you will suffer in eternal damnation) and strong peer pressure (a community to support you if you believe, ostracism if you don't) to win and keep converts. Those who oppose these techniques or have lost friends of family members to these techniques while resisting themselves may feel justified in being antagonistic to people who try these techniques on them or others.

Similarly for Christians, people who attack their beliefs are attacking what they feel is the most precious thing of their life, the thing that gives them hope and clear, simple answers in what would be a world otherwise be filled with uncertainty and no clear direction. Those who fear the effect of this doubt themselves are often those who fight hardest against others who challenge them.

I am a christian. I am a very happy christian.
I believe in God. I believe in a God of love! I believe in Jesus.
Christians believe that "God exists". It's a believe.

Atheists believe that "God does not exist". It's another believe.
I do not hate atheists. Why would I hate somebody for his believe?

I have some atheists friends. They accept me. I accept them.
I think it all depends on the people.
