Young and old rides a bike. Millions of people line up the road to see some crazy guys race past in a few seconds. They can camp there for days just for that moment. Why is bicycle so facinating. I am a cyclist.

Mykl doesn't understand about the big wide World. He's never heard of football (the real thing, played by almost every country in the World and never called 'soccer' except by Americans). He's never tried cricket or petangue, hurling, curling, lacrosse, rugby, hockey (on grass) or real motor racing and rallying, mountain climbing ........ or cycling.
If he'd tried any of these things he'd know that cycling is the best sport on the planet. Everyone can do it, old, young, male, female. Everyone can enjoy it their own way - fast slow, long, short, alone or in company, racing, touring, off-road, on-road, indoors, outdoors, come rain or shine.
Cycle racing is about tactics, strategy and teamwork, coupled with individual determination and guts. Its fast, dangerous, dirty and intelligent. But Mykl would struggle to understand the thinking bit.
Cycling is also one of the truly healthy sports (like swimming and rowing). It stresses no part of the body excessively, yet it exercises every part effectively. Its THE fitness system and yet its pollution free, cheap and easy.
Cycling gives you another view on your neighbourhood and lets you see more of the World than you'll ever see on foot or in a car.
Europeans understand all this Mykl, how come you''re struggling to get it? Maybe you need to get on yer bike.

It's free.
The people in Europe have nothing else to do.
They're bored.
There are no real sports in Europe.
Nothing to do but spend the weekend lined up on the side of the road.
If you put it in the right perspective though:
You and a bunch of your friends hanging out, partying, camping...but you need a reason...so you camp by the side of the road. You get to meet new people and/or hang out with some of your old ones.

It doesn't pollute the planet, its a rig where you can go ANYWHERE sans gasoline or bio-fuel, it has a beauty to its design ( the dual suspension mountain bikes ) and engineering, Lance Armstrong showed the whole world of its capabilities on the hills of France and its Alps, and the kids who kick their pedals aboard their rad BMX bikes to race thru the finish line and show their parents the meaning of VICTORY. Know what I'm saying?

i ride for the adrenaline and the satisfaction of riding great line. i do it for the fun and the gravity. i dont ride road but i think that people watch road a lot and are so facinated by it because it is one of the most physically demanding sports in the world.

The wind in your face, the sights and sounds, the smells, experiencing life outside of a four-wheeled cage. Oh!... you mean the race... beats me, I'd rather be out riding on a path or trail than watching somebody else ride.

I don't get people who line up to see that. Pretty lame to me. Just watch it on TV where you can see the entire race. Big Whoop.

with good bicycle.........its pace of time n life passing by , u slower. enjoy better than just zipping thru in a motor.its best work out which encompass work n play...............i love doin it........hope same for u
