Wear your hair curly for about 3-4 weeks straight (maybe longer depending on damage which is prob. why it's so frizzy), don't straighten it or mess with it for a while & give it a break & let it heal!!!
If you can find Lanza brand hair products (salon products-you may be able to find a seller on ebay or in a bigger mall where they have those specialty hair product stores where they sale Matrix, Redken, Nioxin-etc.)
I recommend the Lanza Reconstructor product & Lanza Hair Repair products. Check out this website:
http://www.lanza.com/
Also, there was a product I used to use by O.S.I.S. by Schwarzkopf a hair gel called "Twist"- it was the best ever for making my curls perfect, not hard or crunchy, & it would even look good on the second day with unwashed hair (crazy I know)- of course now I can't find it & think they may have stopped making it or reformulated/renamed it...
I think you need a good haircut, if you see someone on the street where you live with curly hair that you like ask them where they get it cut & get the stylists name-make sure you see that stylist.
Good luck!
P.S. here's another product you may want to check out-i've also used & had great results with-

I have the same type of hair, but mine is long. I have to use a good shampoo and conditioner, and follow up with a good leave in conditioner.... try frizz-ease, or a number of other similar products. Try to avoid the blow dryer, unless you use a diffuser. I also use a hot iron to brush my hair at times, it calms the frizz (for a little while anyways!!) Good luck!!
Oh, yeah, with our type of hair, layers don't work very well... unless you like a very time consuming daily ruitine with curling irons.... stick with one length... grow it out.

my hair is curly and kind of frizzy...i always have leave-on conditioner on my hair or wax, a soft type of wax that is....leave ur hair messy and big(as it grows) its really beautiful that way....then u can use a curling iron, just to define the curls the way u want it to be,while ur hair is wet.
it works really...try to use a medium curling iron....u can purchase the philips matrice or matrix set...gd luck
and yeah never layer ur hair again...it's better one length...:)

naturally curly hair is absolutley beautiful, especially long and blonde. I hear its actually easy to maintain, but drying it could be fun and time consuming

after battling my curls for years, they won! i have had dreadlocks for roughly 8 years and LOVE them! very low maintenance -- just wash and go.
