I watched Emily Rose and it was an entertaining movie, but that's all it was, Hollywood. The Devil is real people and so are his demons. They are still possessing and oppressing people today. I, along with other Brothers and sisters of my church have cast out demons from many possessed people. My thoughts about mental illness is that it is only, either, possession, or oppression. People have only excepted in the last 200 years that it is a mental condition.

I love horror movies, but I don't think that your question is about movies.
The fact is that a percentage of the population actually believes that demons or devils can enter people's bodies. This is simply not the case, as there is no such thing as a demon or a devil.
The people who are "possessed" are actually suffering from any one of several mental disorders, usually schizophrenia. These people need therapy, not exorcism.

Hoaxes? We're talking about movies here. I would use the word 'fiction' instead.
I happen to enjoy a good possession movie. Just saw The Omen remake...good flick.

Yes, many people, including religious leaders, believe that "demonic possession" is more likely to be mental illness. (You also have to bear in mind that what you're talking about are movies.) There are exorcists out there who claim to be really getting rid of demons, but of course they charge money for this service! Now, that's pretty evil in my opinion.

No, the films aren't hoaxes. I also don't believe that most of these girls themselves were intentionally creating hoaxes. What I do believe is that they had severe mental problems and some inadequately-trained people misinterpreted their behaviour as 'possession'.

Of course they are hoaxes. Mental illness can be brutally ugly.
