I've got a new digital camera (6 megapixel photos) and I'd like to be able to touch up photos effectively: remove red eye, blemishes, maybe do some cool effects. I'm not a professional but my camera's software doesn't do the job for me, so I need a third-party program like Photoshop, without Photoshop's hefty price tag! What other software programs should I be looking at?

Every movie since 1997 Titanic, has been rendered in GIMP,
"GNU Image Manipulation Program"

It runs on all hardware platforms that you would probably ever see.

FREE!!! Free as in Speech, not as in beer! You might have to learn something from it's free tutorials! http://www.gimp.org/windows/

The Linux version is INCLUDED in most LiveCDroms, FREE, here, that boot and run in the CD! http://pclinuxos.org
http://kubuntu.org You can install, FREE, as a second or third OS on any 'Windows' computer!

Linux has NONE of the 150,000 Microsoft Virus Definitions, exploits, and vulnerabilities.

Exercise YOUR Freedom of choice!

Linux usually has 1,600 to 5,000 applications on the CD (there are more than 450 versions - called Distros!).
