Staring at yourself in the mirror?

2006-07-04 03:53:50 · answer #1 · answered by maharet 6 · 1 0

It's a form of skrying, a pyschic procedure similar to gazing into a crystal ball. The mirror used is not usually the same as a wall mirror in the bathroom. Often it is a shiny bowl with water in it, and it does not even have to be an actual mirror. The person gazes into the mirror and, if he or she has the talent, enters into a trance. The mirror (and a crystal ball as well) is merely a tool for concentration. The Greeks and other ancient cultures used skrying bowls with inscriptions written inside them. These were filled with water, and the surface of the water used as a focus. Various oils were also sometimes put on the water surface to make it perfectly smooth. In some cases it was believed that the combination of oils used had magical powers.

mirror gazing is a spiritual art of looking into a mirror (can also be done with other reflective surfaces, crystal ball, etc..) while asking questions either on the subconcious third eye level or out loud. you can ask for certain spirits, gods, etc.. to come in and help with this task.(showing or answering questions) you look into the mirror (stare) and ask a question...for example....what will my true love look like..(after a time, maybe a few mins, or it may take several tries over several days, etc.. there is no set time) you will get your answer by a reflective image in the mirror.

also. if you just gaze at the mirror without asking a question.. you can see your inner soul at times... other times you can see your future...

eventually you will be able to see people, places, and objects just as you would be able to in a crystal ball. many things have been used for divination over the centuries including puddles of water, cups of tea, shiny rocks.

I believe you're referring to a form of divination called "scrying". You ask a question and stare into a reflective surface until you see the answer. When using a mirror, the back of the mirror has usually been painted black, so that it's still shiny/reflective, but the image is distorted or muted. It's recommended that you scry in a dark room with a candle lit, but place the candle behind you or somewhere where it won't show up in the mirror.

it is a form of scrying. a divination tool. when gazing into a reflective surface (pool of water, mirror etc) a trance state can occur in this trance state your normal physical senses (sight hearing touch etc.) are dampened down and your attention is brought to the 6th chakra a energy center that resides right between the eye brows. you will start to see with your spirits eyes and not your bodies eyes. most famous aspect of this is crystal ball gazing and if using a true quartz crystal (dont use a lead crystal ball it actually deadens the effects) the vibrations that you have also amplify into the ball making it easier to trance on. but look up the subject of scrying and you will get any further answers to your questions.

I always thought that mirror gazing meant that if one looked in a mirror long enough that sometimes someone else or something else would look back at them. Just what I have heard from family and friends.

Crystallomancy, or crystal gazing, is a method of divination of distant or future events by gazing into a crystal. In popular media, a crystal ball is often used.
