Cat's use their whiskers for a lot of things. The ones around the eyes warn them when something is too close to their eyes, and causes a reflex to make them blink. The ones on the sides of their face do multiple things. Most importantly it lets them detect how wide an opening is and whether or not they can fit through it. If you cut their whiskers, they could get stuck in a tight place, and not be able to get loose. Don't do it.

Whatever you do, do NOT cut the whiskers off. That is like a sensor to a cat. They NEED the whiskers to sense things around them, and they NEED the whiskers to keep them balanced. The whiskers are there for a reason, and if you cut it off then it would not be a good thing period. Why would you want to do something like that anyways?

The whiskers on your kitty are there for a reason, such as , equalibrium. They need their whiskers for fitting into small spaces, like getting behind the couch, even finding their way into the litter box. So i would have to say that cutting off your cats whiskers is not such a wise idea. You may find little messes all over your home. That wouldn't be fun would it? I had a cat growing up, brother and I burnt the whiskers off of her. they eventually grew back, but this is all from personal experiences. Cats like to get even.

It won't like it!

They use there whiskers as feelers for going through small areas, if the whiskers don't touch the side, the cat knows it will fit through, if the whiskers touch the side and bend, it knows it won't fit through the gap. But they are not sensative to pain as a lot of people think, I had a kitten that tried to chase the smoke up a chimney, as a result it burnt it's whiskers, and it's mother decided he must have looked better with out them, because for the rest of her life when ever they cuddled up together she chewed them off.

it won't be able to walk straight, and will be confused if they try to get into small spaces and can't fit. You see, cats' whiskers are supposed to be the same width as their bodies. They can see if they can fit into a small space by measuring it with their whiskers. So, your cat might think that it can go into a smaller space than it actually can, and get stuck. In other words, don't cut it's whiskers.

Don't! You should never cut or trim a cats whiskers as they're extremely sensitive, with roots 3x deeper than those normal hairs and they are closely connected to the nervous system. Any damage to a cats whiskers will cause it discomfort and he can become confused and disoriented.

the whiskers on a cat are the same size as its body it show the cat what holes ect it can get through ..if the whiskers touch the side of the hole it knows the gap is to small for it and it will probably get its head caught in something

It's not nice. Your cat will hate you for a while. The whiskers are there for a special purpose. Don't cut them.

Why would you want to? Leave your cats/kittens whiskers alone. Poor thing, they are there for a reason.
