I believe it is required by law to carry workers comp in Texas if you have a company with a certain number of employees (I think 25). Check out this resource and see if it helps.

Please be aware that:

1. People who work as temporaries may not be classified as employees of the agency, for workers comp purposes.

2. Texas does not require workers comp. An employer may choose to opt out of the WC system.

Companies are usually required to post their comp certificate in a visible place. If you don't see one ask.

Ask them to identify their insurance carrier. THey are required to do so. If they don't carry the insurance, they are required to tell you that as well. You might be covered by the company that they place you with....but ask about that as well. You're entitled to this information.
