Today is Independence Day in the USA. If they want to be a part of America, why are they mowing today?

Maybe they are LEGAL immigrants and are like a lot of OTHER Americans and have to work on holidays. Some places don't shut down, like police depts., hospitals, stores, some businesses have 2 -12hr shifts, or 3-8hr. shifts and never shut down. I work today, late evening.
Illegal immigrants have no reason to celebrate, they are not USA citizens.

Many immigrants dont work today. Some work because they have a necessity. Many people think being an immigrant is easy, theres a shame in leaving your country because of financial or government problems.

Get real! You want to go shopping, eat out, see a movie, put gas in your car, etc,. etc. today? There are lots of people working today so that you can do these things. For all the years that I worked retail management, no customer has ever said thanks for working on the holiday so I could shop! Bah!
BTW, my best workers were Hispanic!

they get holiday pay, which is 1 1/2 to 2 time of regular pay. America doesn't stop working today; Lots of citizens work today, too.

Guess they like to eat, that is why they came here and since they have no protection from getting fired if they do not work. Poor people do not have the luxury of taking time off. It is either work or starve. Not to mention the quest for work they have to go through.

I'm an American citizen and I have to work today. You cannot shut down a nation because of a holiday.

Please don't fall into the media trap and use the term immigrant when speaking about people that only pour into our country to suck off the system and never intend to become a citizen.
Many of the illegal invaders had to flood back to Mexico to vote and haven't returned yet.

Maybe since they choose to fly the flags of the countries they come from, and their loyalty is to the country they came from, there is no reason to take a holiday THIS country offers.

Are they? LOL I agree, observance of national holidays is kind of a good tradition to get started, but so's speaking english, and I don't know how much headway that's making...
