cobalt 60

A radioactive form of the metal cobalt, which is used as a source of radiation to treat cancer.

Understanding Cancer Metastasis
Scientists have learned the mechanics of how cancer cells spread from the primary site to secondary sites. This process, known as metastasis, is one reason many late-stage cancers are difficutl to treat. The new study provides insight into the metastatic process:

Instead of a cell just breaking off from a tumor and traveling through the bloodstream to another organ where it forms a secondary tumor, or metastasis, researchers in the United States have shown that the cancer sends out envoys to prepare the new site. (Reuters.com)

Cobalt 60 is used as a source of radiation to kill specific kinds of cancer. The cells, once dead, stay that way--but the radiation from Co60 often does not kill every cell in the tumor: cells that are, in some sense, "resting" are often comparatively less sensitive to the radiation than ones that are at high metabolic activity, or that are rapidly dividing.

How does Cobalt 60 work? The radiation--gamma rays, as I recall it--disrupt the DNA, principally; by damaging the DNA badly enough, the radiation kills the cell.

Please note: cancer is a broad, generic term that includes a couple of hundred very different specific kinds of cancer. Some kinds are incredibly radiation sensitive; others, hardly sensitive at all. Many different treatments are out there, and often combination regimens are what work best for a given cell type...

no it can't grow again but the problem is cobalt destroy both cancerous and normal cells but the point is the dose is mainly concentrated toward the cancerous part to avoid hurting nromal tissues

drinking wheatgrass juice...there is a component in it that goes after carcinogenics. Lots of stories of people beating cancer by drinking wheatgrass in books and on the web. Good luck! :)
