I recently started taking trazodone at nites for sleep and every morning when I get up my face and hands are sooo swollen. This morning is the worst cause I cant even get my ring off ! Is this like a bad side affect or just a regular side effect from actually getting some sleep?

check with your doctor to see if its one of the side effects. the va gave it to me during the time i couldn't sleep as my dog had doggy alzhiemers. it gave me the best sleep ever. most likely its a reaction your having. if your on the 100mg then they may try the 50 mg or cut that in half if they need to. but contact your doctor to let them know.

Well lady, maybe it is a side effect who knows but maybe it's just a certain chemical within the trazodone that your body is just getting used too and has to go through the side effects.I know when I take codeine pills or asprin I always get a bleeding nose.It sucks but eventually your body becomes almost immune to the medication, once that happens there's not to much to worry about, unless it has serious side effects, but these seem small. This is my answer to your question,or my suggestion.shawn.k

have you Dr. lower your dose and give it some time. the side effects will in most cases wear off. i have been taking trazodone at different doses for 13 years, and i no longer have any side effects and am sleeping well.

It's a side effect from the med.I used to take it and it did me the same way.I stopped because i never felt like i had enough sleep while taking them and i felt like a zombie in the morning.

I also take this medication and have never noticed anything like that.
If you are sure you are taking it as prescribed I would call your Dr.

Talk to your doctor. That can be a sign of water retention.
