Is it because she feels like the family should spend time together during the holidays. I never could do this when I was younger, but now I would suggest being extra good and excited on the holidays so that the following day you can spend with your friends.

I'm 14 and I honestly don't feel like going to a friends house during the holidays. I'd rather let them come to me, I like being a host rather than a guest. This 4th I plan to spend time with my own family instead of going to someone else's place. I dont think my parents would care I went someplace else for a holiday like the 4th. It's differnt for Christmas or Thanksgiving. Those are family occasians and If I went someplace else, I would feel like I would be intrudung on my friend's family's Christmas.

christmas and thanksgiving i can c not goin newhere becasue u say preteen making me think ur only 11 or 12. 4th of July is pretty wierd.but ur 11 or 12 GET OVER IT!

Listen to your mom. Holidays are meant to be spent with family. I understand wanting to go somewhere else over the holidays but believe me take every oppurtinuty to spend time with your family, you never know...they could die or something...and then you won't get to spend another holiday with them. Listen to your mom, holidays are meant to bring families closer together.
