well it depends on how their raised. we have one and she is the best dog I've ever had. she is very protective of the whole family.and we have 2 kids with one on the way. whenever they are outside she sits close and watches them .She also has the best personality of any dog I've seen.

They can't mate or give birth naturally, they can't breathe in hot weather, a modern bulldog would drop dead of heat exhaustion before it ever baited a bull. I can't think why dog lovers would breed a dog that needs so much veterinary care.
They didn't do cesareans in the old days so they didn't always look like that.

I prefer Mongrels to pedigrees, as pedigrees are all inbred to keep the breed characteristics, and therfore have plenty of medical problems (bulldogs with their sinuses, Alsatians with their hips etc). Mongrels are not to be looked down on due to the fact that their not pure, they've got a deeper gene pool!

I have a Staffordshire bull terrier. he is 17 yrs and acts like a pup. EXCELLENT with kids. Its proven that they are actually a better family dog compared to labradors. I trust him completly. If a poodle/staff./pit/jack russell/etc. is mistreated it can be vicious just like any other breed-its bad owners that give bulldogs in general a bad reputation.

I've never had bulldogs but I know that they are very afectionate dogs wehen raised coreclty you just have to get used to the snorting and snoring. I think bulldogs are on that list of breeds to be banned because of SB861 along w/pitbulls wolf hybrids, german shepards
http://www.understand-a-bull.com/BSL/AboutBSL.htm this is a link that might explain SB861 for those of you who want to know and please vote no against it! ban the deed not the breed!

Depending on who raises them, they can be a loyal companion. To many people try to make them aggressive. You do have to teach them that you are the boss and not them, in other words you are the leader of the pack. Start with a puppy so you can properly train her. If you have small children I do not recommend bull dogs. Good Luck

Same as all dogs, like them but can't eat them all in one sitting. Mmm... crispy fried dog, dog in soy sauce, dog on a stick, the possibilities seem endless ever since I went to China.
Anybody know of a good dog butcher in the UK?
