I am not sure that Virginity is Americas #1 mental heatlh problem but it is a problem. Teens today are put under so much pressure about when to have sex. It comes from many sources and it is the individual that understands what he or she wants out of life, that determines when the best time to lose your viginity.
It is only a problem, (when one decides to lose their virginity) if that individual lets it become a problem. If he or she is mentally old enough to understand the TOTAL responsibility of having sex, then losing your virginity, then if maybe ok. On the other hand if the person is pressured into, or forced, into the decission to quickly it is then, the loss of ones Virgintiy can become a mental problem.
You are right, it is a shame that something so wonderful and pleasurable can be turned in to a problem. This can only happen if that individual lets it become a problem.
So life carries a lot of decission and choices. What teenagers and many adults don't realize is that if you make the decission of moment it can effect you, for your whole life, if the decission is not throughly thought out. What may seem important today will be forgotten soon by others very soon. So hold your head up high, if you feel you have made the right decission in your life, apart from what others think. To be a virgin or not. It is YOUR choice.
Sex between two people is a wonderful and glorious thing for sure. So both men and women, Give it to the one that really deserves it. Being a Virgin is not a bad thing.

It's a shame isn't it, that Virginity is such a big issue! I am 28 and still have mine, and there are many reasons why i still do. First - latter teenage years, I was just too damn scared, my father made me feel like I am the most ill-fated person alive and that I would definitely get pregnant if i had sex AND couple that with his continuous speeches on how good I have to do for the family as the oldest! Then in my early 20s, it was just that i realized that guys at that age don't give a hoot about you, they just really wanted SOME. So of course that put me through my phase of saving it for Mr. Husband. I won't lie, holding on to it is SERIOUS PRESSURE! But I try! It doesn't hurt either that the only man I honestly truly love is in a completely different country :) So I date guys in an effort to try to move on, but my heart doesn't belong here :)

I believe it havent because men really doesnt worry about the performance only if its their first time doing it.The problem is that both male and female are avoiding the fact what if they get pregnant and what if they catch an STD. I grow up where that is a huge problem in the African American homes and neighborhoods. U have tot take in the view of the who the person is it isnt all bout the problems each one deals it the point where u have to think about ur life after u have done it if u know what i mean.

I completely agree. Sex can be so beautiful. And amazing... if you are with the right person and you are ready to do it. And I firmly believe that the reason we are having so many problems with kids having sex too early and unsafely and not really learning how to enjoy it, is because of our education system. Kids aren't taught that it's bad to do it unsafely, they are taught that it's bad to do it at all... and that's not reasonable. The movie "Girl Next Door"... at the end they make a safe sex video... and I would have totally responded to that as a teenager in high school. Sex is fun, it's meant to be fun... But our focus on it has become very negative.

I don't know why people have such a big problem, if everybody would behave and wait for marriage, there would be no pressure. And we wouldn't have to worry about so many STD's!!! I guess some people let there body's take over without any common sense!!!

This is not from a moral perspective, but rather one of experience: You're very question is why we should wait until marriage. IT is so wonderful and so pleasurable, it should be saved for your husband/or wife.
I did NOT wait. I was such a man whore in high school and college. I regret it. I wish I would have waited.

Worrying about things that are of small consequence is Americas greatest mental health issue.
Why are are you worrying about this?
When I was at that stage of life, I didn't even think about this.
I had too many things to do.

Agreed. Not to mention the social stigma of being a V long past the age of it being cool to be one. 21 and still going...it sucks sometimes...
