Most dont. Some develop cataracts, which can be treated if the cat is not too old and is otherwise healthy. They will occasionally become blind if an eye infection is not treated by a vet, but as human eyesight dims with age, so it does with animals, but not to the extent of blindness normally.

Hi,
The most common cause of sudden blindness in older cats is probably hypertension (high blood pressure), usually associated with hyperthyroidism, kidney disease, diabetes or some other systemic illness.
Optic neuritis does occur independently of hypertension. In addition, glaucoma can cause blindness that seems to have a sudden onset, even though it has quietly been causing damage for some time. This is actually one of the causes of optic neuritis. Cats do not get glaucoma as often as dogs do, but it is something else to consider.
I wish you the best with your pets.

Yvonne, It extremely does sound like your unfavourable previous cat is in a truthful volume of soreness. The crying is a reaction to soreness, and pooping and recognizing are a reaction the strain from the soreness. The slow onset of blindness, is in all threat including in basic terms a sprint rigidity. attempt a sprint elementary previous aspirin (ASA), some million/8 of a huge-unfold potential one jumbled together with the foodstuff. It many times will provide some alleviation, and is a lot greater inexpensive than a Vet's script. Kitty ought to have no project ingesting the foodstuff, as puppy foodstuff manufacturers have been acidifying cat foodstuff for years. Cats love acidic foodstuff. I desire you each and all of the terrific. If this would not help, that's time. Mark
