Of course, actually it was thousands of years later the story was written by mosses in the wilderness and the message of what happened had been handed down for generations. So possissiblely Adam had many sons these we mentioned because they did something wrong. Also Adam and Eve had many daughters. They went without mention unless something they did was memorialable.

It's not history. It's religion. It is stated in the Bible that Adam and Eve gave birth to Cain and Abel, but for all of you that say they were the only one's on earth at the time: Who did Cain go marry? Who did he build a city with and for? Yes I believe they had the same father, but there is no way that they were the only people on earth.

I've talked this one over with a few priests and have gotten several different answers.
The Bible is a group of stories, told by a large assortment of men over a large period of time.
Details aren't supposed to be taken literally. Remember Cain and Able went to the land of Nod to get wives, so there had to be other people.
According to one priest. The Adam and Eve story is just that... a story. It's design is to show us that the Adam and Eve were the first Jews, the chosen ones. Their sons had to find heathen wives (the rest of us). ((They certainly didn't screw their sisters, now did they?))
The Jewish people at that time felt they were the true creation of God, being created by God , the Jews were humans and made in God's image, the rest of us were just animals. As time progressed we found out we were all animals and this story was made up to give this group an "upper hand" over the rest of us. This still holds true today.
Some of my Jewish friends today still feel that goys or gentiles are not true humans. We non-Jews are beasts of burden and are here to serve God's children.
This doesn't set too well with most of us, so we created a way to become "holy". This would be the Messiah story. We then made up a story about God's son, so we too can be like the Jewish people and be in good graces (saved) with their God.
So, Cain and Able brothers?? Sure, why not. They are as much brothers as Hansel and Gretel were brother and sister.
I have to quote an old friend's grandmother on this one.....
"If you ask me, it's all Hooey"

The Bible says that Eve had Cain and Abel by Adam. So, yes, they had the same Father.

Well, rather than speculating, why not see what the Bible SAYS: Genesis 4:1,2 "Now Adam had intercourse with Eve his wife and she became pregnant. In time she gave birth to Cain and said: “I have produced a man with the aid of Jehovah.” Later she again gave birth, to his brother Abel."
The "serpent" was Satan the Devil. Revelation 12:9 and Revelation 20:2 both identify him has the "original serpent"
Adam and Eve were punished because they ate from "the Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Bad" It was a tree that Jehovah(that's God's personal name Psalm 83:18) had placed in the garden as a representation of God's right to rule and decide for them what was right and wrong. (Just like a parent decides for their children what is right and wrong)
Satan "seduced" Eve into thinking she was missing out on something....he first asked her if it was true that they couldn't eat from the trees of the garden. When she pointed out that they could eat from all the trees except that one tree because if they did, they would die. He lied to her and said they positively would not die and that God knew that they would be just like him if they ate from it. Then Eve kept looking at it and began to desire it, so she took it and ate from it. She took some to Adam, who was upset with her because he knew that they had disobeyed God and it meant their death. But he loved her so much he chose to join her. After they ate the fruit their eyes were "opened" in the sense that they could decide for themselves what is right and what is wrong. They are the ones that realized they were naked. They began to think being naked was a bad thing after they could decide for themselves good and bad.
So eating the fruit wasn't just a simple thing. It represented God's sovereignty, or his right to rule humans as their creator. The Devil didn't challange God's power because they would have been destroyed instantly. The Devil's challange that Man can rule himself successfully without Jehovah God's help would take time to prove. And since that time, humans have tried every form of government, and they have all failed to provide what we all really need.
I hope you take the time to read the scriptures and see for yourself.
