Good question, its like getting upset at the mention of santa since you know he does not exist. Makes no sense.

I will tell you that not all atheists get upset when they here anything about God or religion.
I know that some atheists just don't agree with some of the teaching they grew up with.
I am a christian myself but the person i am with do not belief like I do and that is ok because I don't push him to belief like I do.

The same reason Christians get so upset at the mention of no God. You are messing with people's belief systems, and that is a dangerous thing to do, it can be traumatic when your belief system is torn apart. Christians and Atheists alike, the ones that get upset, already doubt their own beliefs, or they wouldn't be getting so upset when their beliefs are questioned. You believe what you want and I believe what I want, and if we don't try to force each other to believe the way we do, and judge them if they don't, then we are ok.

We don't. What we do get upset about is having someone try to shove their religion down our throats.

because some of them are fanatics much like the radical "believers" in other religions. people simply need to be less conceited about their own way of life as well as more tolerant of other's beliefs.
