You hear men say personality is so important, but is that true? Women work so hard to improve there looks or accentuate their assets. I have never known of a woman getting a personality makeover. I am not saying a personality is not important, but when you are at a party and a guy is looking at you from accross the room, is he really checking out your personality. Guys go for looks, and than stick around if the personality fits. If you aren't looking for love, want a one-night-stand, or you want to impress your friends, which is more important looks or personality?

I think you hit the nail on the head here. Physical beauty attracts guys first but the woman must have a compatable personality if she wishes to keep the guy around.

Physical attractiveness works both ways, men just get the bad rap on it. Women are checking out the men just the same way. With men however, women tend to be more forgiving in the looks department, as long as the personality fits. In the long run tho, looks fade and personality is all that is left, so never marry for looks alone :)

I am a guy and I went to the girl that I was attracted to and then stayed when I got to know her. I do know some guy's though that talk to girls first then check her out. No its not alot of guys but I can think of three. One night stands can fun at the time but they are a waste of time and they leave you feeling empty. Being a well rounded person is better than just an appearance person or just soul person. I hope I helped.

The problem is that you can't exactly tell what a persons personality is when you look at them. You can see how they behave,but that won't get you a good picture of what they're like.
And it was proven that humans are more attracted to things that they think look nice. If you're at a party and two girls that are acting the exact same way and one is better looking, then you will most likely go for the better looking one just because of how your body reacts to them.

Looks aren't everything, but looks have got to be something. My wife is very pretty (and I am not just saying that). She has a great personality too. When she is 90 and her looks have faded, she will still be a sweetheart. But her looks was the thing that made we want to show interest in her in the first place. If she were pretty, but a very ugly person on the inside I would have lost interest and moved on.

The first way a man is attracted to a woman is based on visuals. After getting past that, it is important to have a good personality but men are attracted visually first.

While looks are important and what initially attracts people to one another (we are a visual people), personality always wins out in the end. Also, it depends on what the guy is looking for (someone to just screw or a true potential partner).
I have spoken to plenty of women who initially look and even seem nice in personality in observing them, but over time their true selves come out, or I find that they could not figure their way out of a paper bag, or that we have nothing in common.
Face it, there are millions of great looking women out there, each with great physical qualities, and each guy may have particular preferences -- so looks is not really a factor that much in choosing someone. But after that, it will take personality to really win me over.

Women will always be concerned about their looks. Even if a guy talks about personality, there is still going to be a small percent of him that wants the looks.

I believe most men are interested in both. My husband tells me i am beautiful and he says he couldn't have married a woman he wasn't very attracted to. On the other had we have such a great connection with each other. Our personalities mesh very well together. I know he wouldn't have married someone he didn't connect with either. Although, their are thoes who only want a big busted, attractive, model looking woman, but i believe most men are interested in more than that.

well if the guy would like a one night stand that not a man. there more to sex then that. and personality yes i like a girl that look good and can be here self. then i am not a guy that go from one girl to the next. when i find the right one i will know. guy that go from one to the next girl look at them like there piece of meat and that not right. and sex is here for lover to show one and other how much they care about one and other. and go to the next guy the next girl.
