After 2 months wearing temporary bridge, I still can't chew on this lower molar due to pain. He tried to adjust the bite about 5 times to no avail. It almost seems the pain is coming from the spot where a tooth was removed. He says placement of the permanent bridge with temporary cement MAY< MAY end the pain. I hope I can avoid a root canal on that tooth. Will this stop the pain when chewing? Thanks

Tooth pain is hard to identifiy where exactly it's coming from. Teeth aren't wired like skin. When you prick your finger, you know exactly where you felt it. When a tooth hurts, it can feel like the tooth in front or the tooth behind it. The tooth can even feel like it's coming from the other arch or the other side.
In you're case if you're still having pain 5 weeks after the bridge prep you may well be in need of a root canal.
Sounds like your dentist is on the right track. Place the bridge with temp cement. If you're still having pain, remove the bridge, test the teeth for cold, hot, percussion (tapping) and chewing. If he can reproduce the pain on one tooth and not the other, then you're probably looking at a root canal. If you're experiencing pain where the tooth hurt for no good reason or is waking you up at night, that's a slam dunk. Definate root canal.

If you do end up needing a root canal, the most painful part is the bill. The rest is pretty uneventful.

You don't say how long ago the tooth was removed, but I like the answer that says a bone fragment may be working its way out. If it's not that, it just might be the tissue surface of the false tooth (pontic) making too much pressure on your gums or maybe the margins around the prepared tooth have been left a bit long on the temporary bridge. All of these things could only be checked by removing the temporary bridge and looking at your gums.

I wonder if there is a bone fragment that is working it's way out..it doesn't take much to make it feel like a bolder.try gargling with warm salt water and go back to this dentist..he should be able to find out what is wrong and fix the problem.
