If it is bone hard, then you have developed a midline torus of the palate. I remember when mine developed, it was a little sore, but soon the soreness went away, and the lump remained. You get used to it. The dentist mentioned that it was obvious I was a "bruxer", or someone who grinds my teeth at night. I don't know if this had anything to do with the development of this small mass of bone growth at that bony suture, but I think it is a possiblity.
If this is what it turns out to be, it is a completely benign condition, just annoying if you need to wear dentures later in life.

more than likely, it's similar to that of a canker sore. it'll most likely pop and then heal up after that. if it's painful, try putting a bit of Kanka on it. it creates a film over the sore for a little while and has a numbing effect.

Julius' answer is good. Could be a burn, an ulcer or if you have your tongue pierced, just from that..........?
Try Bonjela or Anbesol and it should get better.

I get that when I eat hot pizza.
If you are having cold symptoms, it may also be a canker sore (not herpes).
