Icing it with an ice cube can numb the nerves, temporarily. Sterilizing it can help for a while depending on the bite. What i do, whether or not its good for me, is i usually scratch it until it opens raw. once its raw, it never hurts me again. i put a band aid over it for a while until its gone so not to think about it. The more you focus on it, the more you notice the itch. the more you ignore it, the less it itches! Bathing immediately after the bites can wash away some of the toxins causing the irritation and inflammation. pressure can also reduce the swelling and irritation temporarily.

For mosquito and other itchy bites, put some table salt in your hand and rub it on the bite. It really stops the itching. My father used to do this to us when we wre little and 30 years later I still use this remedy!

Make a paste of baking soda and water -you want it thick so you can spread it on the bite and let it dry. Then apply an ice pack. The baking soda helps dry out the bite, without damaging skin and the ice will reduce swelling and inflammation.

Use the Aveeno anti-itch cream. It's great and only costs about $6 for a tube.

Rub a little ammonia on the bites. I bought some afterbite and that is the main ingredient.

Melaleuca oil, or if you can't get any of it, you can get tee tree oil from Super Walmart. I know our Walmart handles it, they have it in the pharmacy area, and that works very good. It stinks, but I'd rather have the stink over the pain!
