Our dog had she gotten bred, should have had puppies round the middle of June. She showed no signs of being pregnant and has not been with another male since the attempted breeding. She has recently, though, showed signs of uddering down and yesterday (july 3) she is definitely producing milk. What's going on here?

63-65 days gestation.
Maybe your dog is having a false pregnancy.
If the breeding did not take she may think she is preganant and just not be.
You may need to take her in to the vet for a check up to see what is going on. Making usre she is not still carring dead puppies or having some type of infection.

Many female dogs will periodically go through false pregnancies. It is triggered by hormonal changes in their bodies due to an unsuccessful mating, heat, bringing in a orphaned unweaned puppy (or other animal). You should see your vet. Spaying, obviously, will get rid of the problem. I had an unspayed female dog years ago who did that when I found an abandoned kitten. She began producing milk and tried to nurse the kitten. She'd carry it around by the nape of its neck just like a mother would.

Could be a false pregnancy. Happens to dogs. See your vet

You should see your vet for absolute answers, but it sounds like a puppy may be in your future.
