No don't go to the Marines!!!!!!
Every Marine Unit Runs On Fire Team Tactics which involve 1 - 4, 4 Man Teams to complete any mission. You will/would be incompatible with an effective fighting force such as the USMC!

I know the Army uses the M249 and M240 now. I suppose the Marine Corps would as well. The M249 SAW fires 5.56mm while the M240 uses 7.62.

I'm sorry to inform you that only one American Force can accomadate all of your needs, and it is not the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines or Coast Guard. It is the Hollywood Army.
They pay better, but worse benefits.

Just do it the easy way, go into ur local recruiting station, tell them you want to take the ASVAB and then tell them what you want out of the marine corp.
