It all depends on where you want to go to. Buying cancellations at the airport could mean that you end up anywhere. The better option is to book a late-deal from the internet, at least you will know where you are going, although accommodation will be allocated on arrival. Always ring the travel company and ask for their best price, bartering could save you a fair amount of money.

the cheapest holiday i had was renting an apartment from the Friday-ad and getting the flights from the Internet can't think of their name but if u can get cheap accommodation then all u have to do is keep searching for the flights.

I always use www.hotwire.com,but it is best for last minute travel if they are trying to fill the seats. You could also try www.priceline.com; I have had some success there, but they limit you to one bid a day...doesn't work well if you are close to the departure date you are looking for. You can try the search, but cheapest route is the auction, if they accept your bid.

Good luck!
