Mark 8:12 "And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation"
Thomas, Jesus' disciple, didn't believe that Jesus was risen from the dead when the others told him - he said that he would have to see for himself. Jesus appeared unto him but he still didn't believe he said that Jesus would have allow him to let him touch the scars in his hands and side. Jesus then allowed him and then Thomas believed. But, Jesus said then and there than blessed are those who believe without seeing. Also the parable Jesus told of the rich man going to hell and the poor man going to heaven and the rich man ask God to send one of the dead prophets to appear unto his brothers so that they would believe and God said if they didn't believe the prophets before they wouldn't believe now.
Those who have faith without seeing first hand signs as such are counted blessed to God and their reward will be great as he rightly said. We have the scriptures and we have the prophecies fulfilling before our very eyes, we will be counted blessed if we believe from the abundant evidence that is presented to us.

first of all, God did not choose Prophets. We make them into Prophets like the names you mentioned. However, God does forgive. You see... these men (and they were just men) had faith first, then they saw God. (you see.... a burning bush can just be a burning bush, but when you have faith that God can be talking to you from the burning bush....then you have a revelation!)
David was just a "man after Gods own heart". So how could he get away with some of the stuff he did? He didn't. While he was a great king. He had to pay for what he did. God forgave him, but he didn't take away the pain or grief he caused to others. Nor did he take away the pain and grief some in his family caused. (apparently he wasn't a perfect dad). But David Loved God, and God loved David.
God loves you also.
But the key to both of these men were the closeness they had with the almighty to begin with.

Well u can certainly look @ it from that perspective or u can see it this way: without the trials and mistakes of David, Moses, Noah, Paul, Peter, etc. how would u know that God is a forgiving God? The Jews r the chosen people of God and put His Son to death but God is still going to restore Isreal unto His chosen people once again. I know that for me I appreciate the Davids, the Moses, the Pauls of the scriptures because I make a lot of mistakes and I know that I need forgiveness - and look at ur life and mistake pattern and then apply it to David or Paul or Moses - how many times have u made a mistake before u 'got' the lesson. We experience trials and choices in order for us to help others. Do u truly believe that David would not have wrote the 6th Psalm or the 91 Psalm w/o knowing of the terrible burden he placed at Jesus' feet? None of us is perfect to include prophets of past and present - we have to be just as forgiving and Thank God everyday for His Mercy and Grace in even letting us live despite of our mistakes and poor choices. - Think about it-

The the bush on flames was not the miracle...for Moses was impressed only after he heard the voice of the Lord....b4 that the bush was only interesting...like a Geiger or a meteor.
The fact that he heard the Lord was great.. But St Paul in his letter´s told us that that kind of contact with God was less important and less personal than the contact we might have now, after Jesus.
Believers all over the globe have great experiences with Jesus..some saw miracles, some saw angels...and still was not this that impressed them...but the love they felt, the powerful presence of the Spirit of the lord, that was what made a greater impact on them.
To see supernatural things is not what makes a believer believe...he believes b4 that, and that´s why he sees it.
I know a lot of great signs and supernatural things that happened to friends and relatives...still that made no impact on them, they did not became a believer...because either they did not get touched by God´s love, either those wonder were not performed by the Lord hand.Who chooses is the one that receives, God only visit those who desire so....specially those who secret desire.
Remember, the magician in Egypt made great signs also.

thats where faith comes in my friend....people need to be able to trust in what they can't see or hear or feel physically. meanwhile, yes, it would make it easier if a burning bush talked to me, but if you think about it, somone going around nowadays talking about how a burning bush was speaking to him most people would think they were crazy and throw them in a loony bin...i personally wouldn't but hey, thats the way the world is...its hard to have faith, which is why the people who do are much more rewarded in heaven

Not everyone was close enough to Him already to hear Him. Or they plain out did not want to hear. Most of the main prophets, went up against incredible odds to get God's message across.
As far as King David, he did repent and realize his wrongdoings eventually. That is why he pleased God.

If Adam and Eve had obeyed God in the first place we would not be in this mess we find ourselves in (born into sin), our natures would be Godly (Holy). Now, IF you would see God, Then you must 1) OBEY God, that means keeping His Commandments 2)Study His word (KJV only) to show yourself approved of Him, and rightly divining that word (letting it explain it self) and 3)Spreading that word (gospel), helping others, meeting them where they are, etc. Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness, the same thing with ALL of the prophets.

God choses people all the time... God has marching orders for Christians to spread the Gospel in Matthew 28. He has a plan for your life... seek God and He will answer... knock and the door will be opened.
