LASIK is a personal choice. It also has to do with the type of problem you have with your eyes (ie presbyopia vs astigmatism, etc). Some things don't have a very good record of being corrected yet, but the process is constantly being changed and made better, so talk with your doctor and find out if it is for you.

My brother got his near-sightedness and astigmatism corrected with lasik like 5 yrs ago and loves it. I don't want to because I like being able to look at some things really close, like 2 or 3 inches from my eye. I can use my uncorrected vision kinda like a magnifying glass. The optometrist said I wouldn't be able to do that anymore if I got the lasik.

Your correction is about the easiest to correct. You probably won't get the "wow" factor that someone who was -3 or -4 but you will still be happy. I was about your prescription when I had mine done 6 years ago and couldn't be happier. I see 20/15 in both eyes. Do it.

I had wavefront lasik surgery done about six months ago. I'm very happy with it. I had to pay little bit more than $1500 for it, because I had it done in States.

I recommend wavefront lasik, because it's more accurate than older technologies.
