Yes I think this is cause for concern, perhaps study the weather patterns in the country and plan to relocate.

Weather comes and goes. In the overall scale of geologic time, the weather now is probably some of the best that has ever been on the planet. If the weather is really a concern to you, there are several things that you may want to consider. Moving inland, away from the coasts and keeping a reasonable amount of provisions in the event of some weather.

You can only do so much. It's a mess and man himself has made it worse. All you can really do is make an attempt to hurricane proof your home. Also, if they evacuate, it's time to bail.
