G'day Clinton, I know exactly where you are coming from, first of all you are NOT a nobody, you sound like a child of God to me.
Yes the Roman Church is the Whore of Babylon and it is in Revelation 17, the whole chapter is talking about the Rc church, but Rev 17:5 calls her, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATION OF THE EARTH.
Yes they pray to dead people and worship idols and images, they bow down and kiss statues and in many churches especially in places like Spain, they even have Mary on the cross as co-redeemer with Christ, what blasphemy they teach.
They have removed the second commandment from their website, the one that says not to make idols and not to worship statues, and so they still have 10 commandments they have made the 10th into two! CAN YOU BELIEVE THEIR WICKEDNESS?
Rev 21:19 tells us "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life ............"
They preach a gospel of salvation by works and not by faith, their very mass is a blasphemy as the priest command his god and tells their jesus to obey the priest and come into some bread.
Their jesus has to do what the priest tells him, their priest is greater than their god.
They sideline Jesus and pray to almost anyone but him, their jesus has to make do with being on the same list as their "saints."
God will destroy this wicked religion and it will go down in one hour the bible tells us.
If only the Rc would read the Bible and discover the difference between Rcs and Christians.

I am not a Christian and I take exception to a lot of things that the Catholic Church is responsible for, but as a NON Christian, I have to say this: You are a greater enemy to the Faith than I will ever be, and if I were Christian, I'd be livid. Actually I am not a Christian and I AM livid! The whole point of Yahoo! Answers is to foster a dialogue between different groups of people...and to get points and stuff, but NOT to go around misrepresenting yourself and slandering other people. For as much as I may take exception to some actions of the Catholic Church, I would never stoop to the level of calling the Church the Whore referred to in the Bible. I don't particularly agree with the Bible, but I HATE it when people use it as a weapon against others, no matter WHO they may be.
Now of course, you have freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom of belief, but that doesn't mean that you have to stoop to poor taste. And quite frankly, how would YOU feel if something that supported YOUR life was referred to as a whore?
As a gay guy, I can tell you from experience that words like that HURT worse than anything imaginable. I've gone through it and no matter how much I may disagree with something or someone, I'd never do to them what was done to me, and that included calling their belief system a whore...especially since the Whore referred to in the Bible was the Whore of Babylon and a symbol for corruption and all sorts of other icky stuff. The Catholic church is many things, and some people may consider it "icky" but in the end, it's all about respect and an attempt to change the world by actually LEARNING something, or sharing something. And if all you have to share is venom, then maybe you should have posted that question or whatever it is, in a part of this forum intened for NON Christians, since there are plenty of us bloodless, devil worshipping heathens out there who'd just luv to call the Catholic church a whore.
Oh, and additionally, somehwere in that collection of 66 books called the Bible, some really cool dude said "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Am I to believe that you want YOUR faith system to be referred to in the manner in which you've referred to Catholicism?
There. I've said my piece, and I got two points!

The Catholic Church compiled the Bible (including the parts that the Protestants took out for their own convenience.)
I wonder why they would leave in the part that exposes them as the Whore of Babylon?
We don't pray to Jesus? I'll let the Pope know this shocking news and maybe he can fix it.
We Catholics will continue to pray to Jesus and ask Mary for intercession on your behalf. For a (seemingly) young person, you have more than your fair share of pent up hatred (a very un-Christian virtue!)

Excuse me but no where in the Bible does it say that the Catholic Church is the whore you are speaking of. I am a Catholic and we are Christians and we do pray to Jesus. I think you had better research where exactly your Bible came from. What makes you so sure that you are capable to interpret Revelations? Where does it call the Catholic Church a whore? I think maybe you need to read again and study your faith before you point fingers.
Peace of Christ,
Debra

Umm...
Catholics were the first Christians. It does not say anywhere in the Bible that we are the Great Whore. The Catholic Church was founded by Christ.
The priest scandal? Those men are only human, and they have human weaknesses. What they did was wrong, very wrong, but you must differentiate a priest from the priesthood. Judas betrayed Jesus. Does that make all of the Apostles (the first bishops) evil?
We pray to Mary in the sense that we ask her to pray for us- to intercede on our behalf to Christ, her son. It is like me asking someone to pray for me. We do not worship her!
P.S.- We Catholics compiled the Bible (the Word of God).

Everyone loses their temper sometime. It's what you do when you do that counts. Ask for forgiveness and move on. If you are a true christian your attitude and the way you live is your testimony to the world. It does matter how you act around people. Why would someone want to become a christian if they see you acting like that. Keep trying, and ask God to help you through those tough times. Some people will always try to tick you off, you know. So be the better person.

There is no question here, just a temperamental rant.
Does your screen have SPELL CHECK?
I don't hear the comparison of every Christian to a Catholic Priest anywhere.
There is also little to no first hand knowledge of Catholic Doctrine in the rant. Mary is revered (not worshiped), as the only sinless human, and mother of Jesus. The focus is on her as an example of obedience, and faith for the rest of us. She is not deified.
I hear the "Great Whore" theme on angry small time fundamentalist radio preaching very often. You don't seem to get it from any of the "High Protestant" programming.

Trouble is not in the catholic church but i think its in your heart. The church that you called whore' is the church which was founded by Jesus himself; and said heavens ad earth will not prevail against it. Yes, there have been times of brutality, times of bad popes and priests and so on............and yet it has prevailed and will continue to do so.
Coming to your actual question; God loves you and is able to free you from your temper; just beleive and ask him to do it. I know it is really hard; but what seems impossible to man is possible to God. Also, when you pray, pray for a deeper inner healing/cleansing of the spirit; if there is anything at all negetive, even in the subconcoius mind; ask God to reveal it to you and pray for a special healing in that area. Ask for your spiritual elder also to pray for you and over you.
I am sure he will help you get rid of your temper....and the reason is simple....He loves you

I understand you are upset. I was once Catholic myself. But having read the Bible.. there are many doctrines in the Catholic church that are in direct opposition to the Bible. Would you not want to be part of a fellowship of believers that are most in tune to what the Scriptures teach?
I won't debate with you over Catholic doctrine unless you want me to. But I am glad I left the Catholic Church and I will never look back.

We pray to Mary, because we believe she can intercede for us.. like a bridge to get to Jesus.. But, you can't say that we do not pray to Jesus or to God directly.. because WE DO! Catholicism may have flaws but I guess it is not right to generalize all Catholics just because a member of the Church made a mistake.
