You need to install the display driver, then you can change it into other resolution. Since Win98 doesn't support most of the onboard display and display card, you need to install the driver your own.
Or you can try install Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. They provides most common display driver for your computer if your computer is faster than P2.
If your computer are higher than Pentium 2, some of the motherboard got onboard display, you can find it from the official site of the motherboard producer.
If your got display card, try to find the display driver from the official site of the display card producer

Open the file via Microsoft Paint, then click Save As, select 256 color bitmap on the drop down.

or u must check it with u that weather u have the motherborad driver or not.
other wise u must download graphics driver from driverguide.com
