I recently gave up being a mechanic, a profession i had worked at for sevral years and was quite good at. I did this because I was being forced to do a very many unchristian things (extorting money by legal means, polluting the enviroment, being ridiculed for trying to do the right thing in trying to help people) while i relize there may have been companys i could have worked for where these things would not have practice i was unable to find any in my area and not wanting to move from friends and family i have now found work as a night gaurd at a factory, while i dont neccisarilly enjoy this work more on an intrest level it at least alots me time to study for a better more redeeming profesion. Afterall what good is it to be a good christian yet devot 40 or more hours a week to non-christian practices? I just wanted to know if anyone else has ever done this and if so how it worked out for you

u know i am not christian i am a muslim but i can share with u something n e ways. there is a story that goes as follows. there were these two brothers. one worshipped god at the masjid 24/7 and the other brother worked. and the prophet of our religion went into the majdid and always found this man praying. he said to the man when he was finished how are you able to stay here and pray 24/7? the man said that his brother works so there for he is able to pray all day and dedicate his life to god. our prophet said so you do not work at all? and the man replied no because my brother provides for me. the prophet told him that his brother serves/worships god more then the man who does nothing but pray all day. the point here is it is good to serve god which ever way you want to do so. weather u believe it to be jesus as your god or who ever. but you should always work and serving god does not mean having other people in the religion pay your way through life. you can do both so quitting your job and not working period with out another job to pay your way through life is neither intellegent or productive. working is a form of worshipping god. i think that u made the right decision not to be involved in that line of work if u are truly against it but who is going to pay your way through life? good luck and no hate mail i just wanted to share some insight with you.

I thank u for being so honest and to be brave and take a job u really don't want to do the right thing is admirable! I know that if i felt that i was doing something wrong for any corporation just to make a buck i would quit too. I have had to walk into repair shops after having someone else look at my car first and tell them what i needed because the repair shops see a woman walk in and they immediately think because we do not fix our own cars or know much about them that they can take advantage of us and steal our money.

Thank u so much for giving me hope that they're people out there looking out for others and will not take advantage of our ignorance because we did not go to mechanics 101. Many hugs to you!

I would do anything to better serve christ! But if its in Christ's plan to move it'll become possible. All things will be made possible through Christ, if this is what he wants for you. I had given up a job for Christ, and it turns out I got offered to study full time in bible college, which will be starting (July) 2nd semester of the year. So i recommend, if this is an unchristian, or is pulling you away from Christ do it. As Christ will make another pathway possible ... good luck

Im not a Christian, but BRAVO! I can tell you the path to God is full of Thorns, that is why it isnt for everyone. Most people arent willing to make sacrifices, so cannot feel the Love of God.

But you are on the Right Path, so continue Brave Soldier!

Well I must admit I am looking for a new job so I can free up Sundays, so I can go to Church, but I think that pales into insignificance compared to what you have done.

I salute your effort.

I would do it in a heartbeat if I felt God was telling me to do just that. Known lots of people that have. God bless you for having the courage to carry out your convictions- NEVER look back or
question anything you think God asked you to do.

I guess I would, because with my job, I couldn't go burning churches 24/7. That's the only service they'd get from me.

it sounds like your a nice guy, and an inteligent guy, but it also sounds like your a slave to your god, and might i remind you that its a god that has never been proven to exist, and one that clearly not alot of people believe in any more.
your choice to live by gods law is your choice, your choice to give up a job that conflicts with your belief is fine, but think about it, do you really want to live life in fear of gods judgement?
