My husband and I went out and happened to see this guy with Native American jewelry on and long hair to his shoulders and he was in Indian dress and my husband, who is Native American(for real) wanted to ask this guy about his tribe and his people. So, he pulled up beside him and said "who are your people?" This moron turns around and says "I...no Englaise." My husband was disgusted and so was I. He asked him, "Are you a Mexican?" The guy replied "si". When we drove off my husband said, "Well, that proves he is ashamed of being Mexican." I agree. He was another wannabe claiming to be Native American but had no idea how except to dress like them. It was disgusting.
That is pathetic to try to make people believe you are something that you aren't. My husband was disgusted and so was I. He said, "Well that proves he is ashamed of being a Mexican."
I expect the usual dumb answers from the same people who usually post them so have at it.

Scoopified, you should change your name to STUPIFIED. If my husband wants to answer one of my questions, what is it to you. If you don't like it, move on. Talk about whining. As far as my "need for attention", since when did posting one question when others here, and they know who they are, post 20 or more questions in a day. You have a personal problem with me, which makes me think that you might be someone else in here. If you feel my ONE question is "crap", simple, don't answer it. Other than that, screw you. I will write whenever I want. KMA

Well being a freaking beaner myself I tell you now that I feel disgusted by that man's feelings toward his culture. I feel that no immigrant should ever be ashamed of his or her own culture but rather try to show how his culture makes him seek to improve himself everyday. I also feel outraged when I see people trying to adopt a different culture than their own just because it is "cool" or because their own don't understand them, this is nothing more than stupidity and cowardice. Btw I hope you gave that puto Mexicano a piece of your mind

I think DAR always seems to give a reasonable answer.
Here is mine:
What does this have to with immigration? What is pathetic is how a husband and wife Native American couple speak to each other on this forum?? Don't you guys live together?
Renegadesho, don't be so chickenhearted; quit being so easily offended. The Aztecs like the northern Mexican Tarahumaras may be trying to "assimilate." Why do you people make everything a big deal.
HOW SO will your whining contribute to the reform of immigration?
As for the asker, the answers aren't dumb. Your need for attention is dumb. I find it difficult to believe that Renegades intentions were honorable or you would not have had the need to publish this crap. True Native American spirituality is not demonstrated by upsetting yourself over nonsense like this. Read Mary Summer Rain's "No Eyes" and you might really be inducted into the Native American culture.

In order to know the full story with this guy one would have to dig just a little deeper than the visual and two or three questions--this could have been any number of things that did not meet the eye--
There are tribes of Native peoples all through Mexico and Central America who speak only Spanish and who have inter-married with others through out the region--and this man could have been from any one of those groups--Please don't get me wrong here because I am not hacking on anyone ---But until we learn to stop snap judging people on the surface appearences they present--we are going to be destined to repeat the mistakes of the past again and again
I am a Texan and have 15 % Cherokee in my veins

Thank you for presenting this. At the gas station I really thought this guy was Native American until I spoke to him. I didn't do it rudely, I simply asked, "who are your people?" I was totally amazed at the response I got. It was one of the few times in my life I was totally speechless. Then I realized that this Mexican or Spanish speaking person, if you want me to be politically correct, was publicly "trying to pass" as an Indian. How low... And to those that believe that Mexicans are Native Americans, go back and read some of my previous questions. The proof is there. I know my culture and history. I also know SOUTH AMERICAN culture and history. There are very few similarities, IF ANY. For this person to try to pass themselves off as Native American is totally despicable in my eyes. It's very obvious that he is ashamed of being Mexican.

Indians from Mexico and Central and South America don't speak Spanish, they have their own dialects, some do learn Spanish.
And like others have said, he could've been and indian from Mexico. Did you know that, in the state I live at, the native indians (called Yaquis) can go to the U.S. without papers, and still be legal? They have a treaty or something like that. Do some research about it. But anyway, how do you know if tha man was actually a mexican indian (who look very much like native americans)? They do dress, well, like INDIANS!

Oh yummy.......now I "know the REAL TRUTH". You won't gang bang me ANYMORE.......LMAO.
Oh to answer. I find that we all use disguises in some form or another...am I disgusted....no....not usually. I am not very anal.
Is it pathetic to make people believe you are something you aren't? I doubt it. I want everyone to think I am a princess....and I USUALLY act like one.....it isn't pathetic to me...hmmm...go figure.
I also have acted Valley (in the 80's), punk (late 80's early 90's), hip (early 90's etc) and am embarrased by some of MY GARB....but rarely ashamed of ME (a caucasion girl).....at the moment...at that time.....I was who I protrayed....COMPLETELY... Perhaps.....this Hispanic fellow emulated the Indian culture SO much....he felt the need to act and dress.....maybe you should feel a sense of pride in that. Perhaps if you had stayed longer and addressed the "young man" you would know more .....BUT.....then you wouldn't have another reason to hate a Hispanic.
Sorry for that.

Well, some of the tribes were both north and south of the border, so if he is Native Mexican, he may still be of a similar tribe. However, if he is Mexican, he is just like the most of us, from European descent, mixed, possibly, with Native Mexican.
However, people can dress as they like, by me.

Native Americans--once called American Indians--are found throughout the Americas, north and south. Those in the north will, obviously, speak some English; those from the south will speak Spanish (or Portugese, if from Brazil).

If he wasn't Indian then that's despicable behavior. People will do anything for a buck
BUT you have to remember that there are "Indian" tribes in South America that have some of the same beliefs as our American Indians. He could have been from one of those tribes.

He could of been a Native from Mexico.
I'm a Native from Canada!
But if he was just pretending to be Native American, that would be wrong.
