I need help balancing my diet. I only get carbs! Anyone know a good, but inexpensive diet to help me even it out?

As a vegan, I eat a lot of fruit and veges. Tofu with beans or lentils are usually what we have for dinner. To be healthy you need a wide variety of different foods and it is fun experimenting. I have cooked some inedible meals lol.
Visit web sites, Indian vegetarian meals are very healthy and tasty.

Beans and corn eaten together are a complete protein. Morningstar Farms soy burgers are good , cheese, yogurt and peanut butter are protein. If you include salads, raw fruit or smoothies, whole wheat tortillas or bread, and steamed vegetables with brown rice in your diet you should be pretty healthy. Probably should take a B12 supplement since that is the only vitamin that might be lacking in a vegetqrian diet.I think health food stores carry a natural (not chemical) supplement.

Remember the "veg" in vegetarian. Eat fruit. Rice and beans are good, add some cheese (assuming you eat dairy), and some salsa. Cucumbers and yogurt are great together. Keep a nice bowl full of fruit on your table.

I would go with a bowl of Special K cereal that has extra protein in it, or have more scrambled eggs for breakfast. Maybe for lunches, try having more salads, now is a good time to make fruit salads as well :) Good Luck!

You should eat foods that will provide complementary proteins--legumes/beans, whole grains, nuts and seeds. If you are an ovo-lacto vegetarian, you can eat eggs, cheeses, and dairy foods. Also try soy proteins (Boca burgers are pretty good).

This is a Vegan site. They now offer many things for sale but the diet itself is great & simple to follow. You do not need them to buy the extras. Except Vit B 12 but you can get it at local stores.
I use nuts, lentils, beans(can & ones I cook myself) for protein.

Grains are your friend. Try every vegetable. Always cook for yourself - give up on eating out entirely. French fry vegetarianism kills.

Your diet should be mostly carbs--that is the most important part of your diet. What is on the bottom of the normal food pyramid?

Here is a vegetarian pyramid:

Nuts and seeds_
Fruit_______________
Vegetables_______________
Grains/starches___________________
