What is a moondoggie? My wedding reception is going to be a luau and I saw a sample invite online that said to put the heading "hula on over, moondoggies" and im not sure what the heck a moondoggie is... figured I better find out before I call my granny one... lolol

It was an expression used for surfers....the previous answer was correct when they said it came from a movie. I think they used it because sometimes the surfers would go out under a full moon and surf at night. So the heading"hula on over, moondoggies" would imply to me an invite to a casual fun beach type party.

I seem to recall the name, "Moondoggy" in a 60's surfer movie... Gigit Movies Anyway, I think it's used as a corny retro/slang for surfers/beach freaks...
