the average age is 12.5. You will want to talk to her around age 10, but chances are she will already know. You don't want her to find out the hard way, though. That can be pretty scary. I would suggest finding a book that tells you how to talk to your kids about sex, or giving her a book about girls and their cycles. You can look it up on Amazon. It has been awhile since I was a teen, and I don't know if the ones I read are still in print. A female friend would be good to ask, too, if you can't find a book.
When my mom talked to me, she just explained the biology of it. She drew a diagram of ovaries, fallopian tubes, and a uterus, and demonstrated how an egg releases through the fallopian tubes. Meanwhile, the lining of the uterus gets thick to prepare for a pregnancy. If it was't fertilized, then the egg would pass through the vagina and the lining of the uterus would sluff off with it. While it feels like a lot of blood, reality is that it is only a couple of tablespoons and nothing to worry about. It is part of being a woman.
That is how she explained it to me. Hope that helps you!

Usually like after 10 years, but sometimes there are cases where it's like 9 or sometimes not until like 17. Just tell her that its something every girl goes through. When a girl begins to have her period, tell her that it is a sign that she is becoming a woman. Tell her that her menstural cycle is necessary for a healthy way of life. When she does begin, it probably won't last many days. Try to be there for her when all the changes occur. Menstural Cycles are very emotional times, especially for young girls. Start her out using pads. Pads and Tampons come with easy instructions too, so you won't have to help with that too much. Good luck!

Most girls start around 12-13, but some can start as young as 9 or so. If I were you I would research menstruation as much as you can on the internet so you know what you are talking about.
Start by going to some feminine product websites and check out the information they have.

Learn as much as you can about it so you can help her out when she needs to know. I would also start talking to her about some changes that will happen in her body, within the next year or two. Just so she has a little heads up.

They can start as young as 9. I started late. I was almost 16. It depends on the child. When my mother wanted to explain it to me she went to the library and got a book. She told me to read the book and that she would answer any questions that I had. The librarian will be able to recommend one for you. It really helped me alot. I did the same for my daughter when she was 9. Also, they are starting to teach this in the schools nowadays. You can call her school and find out if these courses are offered. It is usually explained in health classes and for those types of discussions they usually have seperate classes for girls and boys. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Well, first you need to get a good book. Cuz no offense but its Menstrual cycle, shes not going to break out into song, shes going to become fertile. Leave the topic open for now and expect that sometime between ages 11 and 14 she will start cycling.

Girls start to menstruate approximately at age 12. Your daughter is almost there. And they hit puberty at age 9. That leaves about 3 years to develop in there chest. You can tell her that she can get cramps and drink warm tea. Don't worry too much, your daughter is STILL a little girl! Good Luck.
i got mine at 12 and my bff at 15 so not all girls are the same

She still has a few more years. My daughter started around age 13, but I think some girls might start as early as 11 or 12.
Do you have a sister or someone who can talk to her about what it will be like? Maybe a trusted female neighbor, family friend, teacher, school nurse? Your mom?

Usual age is 12-14. You should make sure she knows the basics by age 10.
Hopefully someone else who answers will be able to recommend a good book to help you explain, if her mother is not around. Or maybe you have a sister (her aunt) who can help?
