thanks for the quick replies. let me give more detail. i have a 2006 jetta GLI (yes, in the US). VW does not offer automatic headlights (meaning they turn themselves on when its dark and off when its light) on the GLI in the US.

I have identified the switch needed from the US jetta 2.0T package 3.

is there a way to enable auto headlights on my GLI?

not sure why you would want to change it. does it have driving lights that come on when the car starts ? not sure if you can add an after market head light senors to that . which i believe that's what your asking to do. i have a 2.5 jetta package 1 and it has it on it. might call the parts dept at the dealer and ask them if they have it or an after market kit for it.

The best way is to tap off the head light that way their wired to the switch,so when you turn off the head lights they go off too.

The forums on www.vwvortex.com are a good resource for this type of question. There is a search function that should easily help you find the info you need.

DO NOT TOUCH THE WIRES!!!! VW CAN RESET ALL MODES OF DRIVING LIGHTS WITH A FACTORY SCANTOOL.
I TAKE IT YOUR NOT IN THE USA? I MIGHT NOT UNDERSTAND YOUR QUESTION FULLY BUT WITH THE INFORMATION GIVEN I HAVE DONE MY BEST. DON'T LISTEN TO ANYONE TELLING YOU TO CUT OR SPLICE YOUR HARNESS. IMAGINE THIS A NEW VW WITH NO WARRANTY ON ELECTRONICS.
