I know that people like to try everything they can before taking Pets to the vet because it saves time, money, and doesn't stress the Pet. I know I like to do everything I can.
But in your case, if she is straining to urinate without passing anything and there is blood, there are things to worry about.
It could very well be an infection, stones, or a blockage of some sort, even rupture. The only way to tell the difference between these is to do a CBC (complete blood cell count), chemistry, and URINALYSIS.
When you know the results of these, you will be able to tell what's going on and what treatment you need.
Infection is the most likely cause and these can be brought on by all kinds of things, not urinating often enough, poor diet, poor cleaning around the vulva, and sometimes the dog is just prone to it.
The dog might not be showing pain, but it doesn't mean she isn't in pain or uncomfortable, Can you imagine not being able to pee or peeing blood?
Hope this helps.

You don't agree with antibiotics for your pet??? Who are you to force your principles on a defenceless animal that looks to you to look after it.
I'm a vet, and while its true that urinary tract infections can clear up on their own, leaving it can cause permanent kidney scarring which in turn will lead to more complex issues. Blood in urine can be a sign of several illnesses, not just an infection, although this is the most common. I had a female boxer in with the same symptoms and she turned out to have a type of cancer that needed immediate treatment, luckily she had owners that looked out for her and brought her in as soon as possible.
Even if your dog doesn't appear to be any pain, she will be experiencing some pain in passing urine and the antibiotics given with a pain killer will provide her with immediate relief.
People like you that don't take their sick animals to the vet make me sick, because by the time we get them, they are even sicker and then cost their owner more money. In some cases, the poor animals can't even be saved.

This is an excellent example of how well meaning animal lovers cause real distress and suffering in their pets.
I'm sorry that you don't agree with using antibiotics, bacause that means that the infection that your dog has will get a chance to get up her urinary tract and into her kidneys.
The reason why paople write 'go to the vet' is because THAT IS THE LAW . You and I are NOT legally allowed to treat or advise how to treat an animal; it is legislation for the welfare of animals.
Your dog is in distress, she may have cystitis which is like peeing razor blades.
Just get her treated then find a vet that specialises in herbal treatments, like my old vet did.

This looks very much like an infection, could be kidneys, bladder,
you should increase its fluid intake, check out if output (What he pees) seems to correspond with imput (What he drinks). If not then you need to make a quick apt.. I know you said you were going to take it to the Vet in a couple of days but this is one of the first questions your Vet will ask.
Hope he/she's OK.
Best wishes

TAKE THE POOR THING TO THE VET OTHERWISE IT MIGHT BE DEAD SOON!!!!!!!!
Blood in the urine is never good and shouldn't just be ignored, it could be any number of reasons and needs sorting out RIGHT NOW! She could have an internal bleed which could get worse.
TAKE HER TO THE VETS FOR ____ SAKE!

It could be a kidney or kidney stone problem besides a UTI. Have her drink lots of water. Cranberry juice helps humans too, but I doubt your dog will want any. Please consider CALLING a vet. I know it's expensive, but it could get very bad if you wait too long. These things don't heal themselves when there is blood in urine.

What do you mean if it gets worse? There is blood in her urine, if you were a responsible dog owner she would have already seen the vet. TAKE HER TO THE VET A.S.A.P.

I'm sorry to say that it can be stones, renal failure, an infection or many other things. Sometimes you can try to increase their water intake by adding alittle salt to the diet and that will kinda flush things out. Its worth a try.

You're going to ignore BLOOD in urine? It's not like the dog can get in the car itself and go to the vet. PLEASE be responsible. Passing BLOOD is never normal.
