Diabetes as far as we know is passed on through our genes and not by eating sweets and drinking soda. But if we have the disease of diabetes and we eat sweets and drink soda then it will harm our bodies because Diabetic people lack a hormone called insulin that is needed to break down the sugar in sweets and soda .It sounds like you have not inherited Diabetes but you should talk to your parents about this as you seem worried.Diabetics get cravings for sugar like everyone else probably because their not supposed to be taking it into their bodies. I'm glad you are concerned about your family eating sweets while having diabetes as they are doing harm to their bodies. It might be wise to educate yourself on Diabetes and the side effects it causes on the body.

You might. Diabetes is a genetically transfered disease. You should get your glucose level checked from time to time after you cross the age of 30. And you should just be a little extra careful about health.

inherit it from my grandmother nobody else has any signs of it. it doesn't mean that your children wont get it though. they say it skips generations but who really knows just make sure you are tested at least once a year don't worry about it enjoy life whether you get or you don't. life doesn't end. best of luck

Consult a good diabetologist for advice on preventive measures, especially since, you have an established history of diabetes in your family.

Get tested regularly, eat lots of natural veggies and some fruits, stay healthy and fit and not fat and that will help steer you in the right direction. However, if it is in your genetic makeup, there is nothing you can do other then eat properly to avoid getting it sooner.

You may or you may not get Diabetes. As long as you have regular medical check-ups, this will help detect anything early should it develop later.
