Eating meat is your choice, many people do not want to propagate death to eat. I am a vegetarian because of a food allergy and get many angry folks ridiculing me because I don't eat dead animals for lunch.

One day we may as a civilization look back though history and exclaim " can you believe people used to eat flesh in the 21st century...what barbarians". Its all about presentism and social acceptance.

Just ignore them you can have a very healthy diet without meat and avoid all those things like high cholesterol and massive heart attacks.

Great Question,

Bonservant

I'm sorry you get this. I don't get that but if I did, it would definitely piss me off. Not for any other reason than this: NOBODY has the right to make your choices or force you to change your mind about the decisions you choose to make. Basically, it is about respect and tolerance. You see people eating meat around you all the time. Do you hold a gun to their head? Probably not. People need to be reminded to live and let live. Remind your parents. It's about time.

Yeah, I understand how you feel. Tell her firmly but politely that it is your decision to not eat meat and that she has to respect your choices. If you feel that being a vegetarian is the right way to go, good for you, and don't let anyone change your mind. I'm a vegetarian and I get a lot of that from my family who think that I'm not feeding myself properly, but I know what I want to eat and what I don't want to, and what's good for me and what's not. And it is completely normal to not eat meat. Gorillas share 96% of our DNA (or something like it) and if they can survive without meat than so can we. As it is, meat eating animals perspire through their tongues and have sharp canines for ripping up meat. Herbivours sweat through pores in their skin and have back molars for grinding plant matter - humans don't salivate at the sight of a dead cow, but we do at fresh fruit.

You have to understand that as people we want to share, like those people who knock on the door and try to spread the message of God. They found peace in their faith and they just want you to do the same.

She loves meat, you don't eat it, so she wants you too, because she does. It's kinda like when you read a good book and you want someone else to read it. or like you found God and so you go door to door spreading the message, you feel so strongly about, you might not notice that your wasting your time.

Maybe your Grandmother is like that she loves meat and just wants you to also.

Just tell her you this is something important to you. Ask her how would she feel if you kept getting on her case for eating meat.

I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but have no problem with those that are. Just try to ignore it.....she's your grandma. Everyone has at least one someone in their family that picks and nags at the things they do or their way of life. You can live a perfectly healthy lifestyle without eating meat, just smile and nod and live your life your way anyway.

It does not really bother me because I never make my eating an issue. I have had friends that make a big deal about being a vegetarian and cause discussions by their antics. I simply say that it is my private choice just as it is their choice to eat how they choose. I refuse to debate and just change the topic. If they do not get any attention from you (debate, argument, etc) then they will get bored of talking to themselves.

tell them this if you dont eat any meat that means we are hervivores then why is it that we dont have pockets to store the vegetables so we can get as much nutrients as possible. Better one for every 20 pounds of vegetables we eat we stract 2% of the vitamins 60% of the water content and 38% of the pestecides used.

I am a vegan for a year. my mum always use to tell me I dont eat enough protien. other family members use to tell me that is is a bad idea. I proved it with info from the web, books ect and lectured them on how they shouldnt eat meat.
now they don't lecture me anymore, but are tired of my lecturing.
however some of them are slowly going veg:)!
(just a little longer and they will be, success will then be mine)

Tell your grandmother that the reason you don't eat meat is because you really, really hate animals and you want to eat all their food. It never hurts to fück with an old lady's head.

Btw, I'm a non-meat-eater too. But a bloody-minded one.
