I am a vegetarian, but I would like to know why YOU are a vegetarian or vegan. Is it hard to go vegan? I mean, a lot of food contain animal products, I just want to know how it was for you.

a lot of reasons. i don't think its fair to breed cattle only to kill it, ecomonically speaking it is smarter..the amount of land that goes into making feed for animals is huge..if we were to use that land to grow wheat and such we could eliminate a lot of the worlds hunger..seriously. i can get all my takely recommeded in protien from meat subsitutes..that taste GOOD! being vegan is hard, you have to make a lot of your food yourself because trying to find it outside is really difficult. Im a lacto-veggie..been working well for me for years :) hope you do what you feel best with..veggie or no veggie

I became vegetarian in college when I developed colitis, a very painful spasming of my intestines. Colitis affects many people and affects everyone differently. Meat and dairy were trigger foods. I buy lots of rice milk and soy dairy. The hardest thing for me was giving up ice cream sundaes- somehow the rice icecream just doesn't substitute.
I eat a lot of pasta, salads, stir fry, beans and rice. The hardest part for me is to ensure that you get enough proteins. I do eat eggs though which helps. There are a plethora of recipes on line. And TVP- texturized vegetable protein- is awesome- I make sloppy joes and none of my kids' friends know the difference. If you learn the fast foods you can have- Subway veggie sub, Burger King has a harvest burger, McDonald's salad without the chicken, Wendy's baked potato.
Good luck. I get a little added disadvantage as I can't have anything fried which leaves out all the awesome fried veggies like mushrooms and eggplant.

My entire family is vegetarian.
Vegetarianism is about looking at the whole world and seeing all the creatures in it as part of your family. Most people are only concerned about the people and animals within their own home.
We realize how fragile life is and that we are all living together on this small planet. We began to care about every creature on it like it was part of our own. The same feelings that keep most people from eating their cats and dogs are the feelings that keep us from eating the calf, sheep or chicken.
Harm None

I'm vegetarian. My family doesn't like it, but I don't care.
I believe that a life shouldn't have to end in order for ours to continue. It takes 300kg of grain and seed to produce 20kg of beef... think how many starving people that could be fed over a year if the number of cattle farms were reduced by just 15%.

It's mostly health reasons for me. I can get all the needed nutrients outside of eating meat without all the fat so I don't see any reason to kill a feeling animal to be consumed by other feeling animals. (Humans)

i am a vegetarian because i dont think that it is right to kill an animal before it is ready to die and eat it. that is just such an inhumane thing to do. i hope all you meat eaters feel guilty for all those animals deaths!!!
