Have her look at your teeth. They were designed for an omnivore. The cuspids are for tearing flesh.

Hello, I too am a vegetarian and have been for most of my life. I can tell you that everyone has their own reasons for eating or not eating meat. I personally don't have a problem with anyone eating whatever they want too (except other people of course) If your freind is against it because they love animals you may point out that other creatures kill and eat animals to survive or if they are eating that way for health reasons there are some benefits to some animal based products inthe diet (this all depends on who you ask though) The best thing I would do is just respect your friend and if they are a true friend they will respect you.

Tell her that if she doesn't contribute to the consumption of meat, cows and pigs are going to start taking over the world!! Tell her, do you really want the whole world to smell like a farm?? I am sure her answer will be no. Then explain that everything was meant to live and die and give what they could to the world around them. The animals don't feel pain and that is what they were put on this earth for. We are the chosen species...not them. So dig in!

There is a funny joke by George Carlin, I think.. he asks "if God didn't want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of tasty meat?"

It's a good joke, but if you are looking at the ethics of eating meat from a religious point of view you will at some point arrive at this very argument. You will have to ask yourself why God would want people eat only plants when other animals, of his creation, eat meat and plants or only meat?

If you think modestly about our place in God's creation you will have to ask yourself if we are something special and require different rules for what can and can't be eaten? Are we better than all the other aninimals in creation, are we above the food chain or separate from it?

I think back to my native american heritage and how my ansestors would thank the gods of the animals they were about to eat for providing them to us.

Bible even talks about people being the stewards of his handiwork and that we would have power over animals (Genisis 1:26).

These are simple examples, but they hold true. It is is perfectly natural to eat meat, because in nature you can see other animals doing just that.

I'd think it would tremedusly insulting to God to forebid ourselves from enjoying all the wonderfull riches of God's creation just because we think we are above eating the meat of other animals.

If God had wanted us to not eat meat he would have made it endible to us.

If you want her to continue to be your friend, then accept the way she is and respect her beliefs. I eat meat three times a day and have no compulsion about killing and animal. To me all life is precious and it does not make any difference if it is a Head of lettuce or a Rabbit.
But because I love Prime Rib does not mean that all my friends must also love it.

If she wants to be vegetarian, that's her buisness. My friends don't like the fact that I'm a vegie either but they have had to get over it. She has probably chosen to be a vegie for a number of reasons including the belief that another life shouldn't have to end in order for ours to continue - the slaughter of animals is cruel and inhumane. It shouldn't be up to you to try to convinse her otherwise.

If it's part of the food chain then go start killing. Packaged meat in the supermarket is not natural.

Ever since the caveman days our bodys have evolved as meat eaters. That is what we are. Protein is the question . Our bodys need it. You can get as much protien from 3 or 4 oz of meat as you can from 20 oz of a vegetable. So it is the quality of the protien not so much the quantity.

Why are you trying to convince your friend to eat meat? If she's getting the nutrition she needs, what's it to you what she eats or doesn't eat? Are you threatened by her vegetarianism?

Be a true friend and mind your own business!
