a lot of people keep it hush hush. I mean wouldn't you, if it was something that was curable? I know someone that had chylmidia but antibiotics cleared it up. Also a lot of people have no idea they have and STD because they don't get regular checkups.

I know a few people. My fiance and I both have genital herpes and HPV. I gave them both to him, but he knew I had them, and knew someday he would most likely get them from me. At least mine and his are not deadly. My uncle had HIV/AIDS and died when he was only 33! :(
It's really not that uncommon. HPV is one of the number one STDs out there. I have read that 75%-80% of the world has it and only about 20some% know they have it. A lot of STDs have no signs or symptoms and can be spread to another person without even realizing it!
A lot of people have an STD and they either don't know about it, or don't want to admit it or talk about it to their friends or family because let's face it - it's not exactly something to be proud of or brag about. I'm not saying everyone out there has one, but it's really not as uncommon as most people think.
Hope that answered your question!

Actually you would be surprised, you might have a friend that does have it. That is something very personal, so even your closest friend may not tell you. Unless you are sleeping with your friends, you really don't need to know, so they may just feel that it is not necessary to share something like that with you. Also on top of that, yes it is becoming very common, not like it isn't unsafe, but being common is very different then something being safe. The fact that it is becoming very common and many people don't even know they have it that is even more of a reason that you should be extra protected and safe. Good Luck and stay safe!!

Plenty of people get STDs. Most of these diseases clear up with penicillin. That is why people never talk. It can be embarrasing and many are easy to get rid of. I know of at least 4 of my friends who have had various STDs.
