I indeed believe there is a God. A good one at that. In my conception a God who is perfect neither needs nor requires our worship. God is comfortable and sufficently content in the self that God is. Now if by worship you mean focus I could understand, but somehow I do not think most who worship think of it as strictly a focus. I believe these people see themselves as inferior and not as being a friend like I believe the creator would want.

I know nuttin, I agree there are things benefical for us to do spiritually. Again it depends on your definition of worship

Debra M, Are not worship and love two different things hence two different words? Yes we want our children to love us. But is it prudent to want and or have them worship us?

mrearly2, an interesting concept to link worship with justice. Careful, it sounds a little hard nosed. We don't want to protray God as an immature despot.

jakers, you make it sound all so simple. Life is a little more nuanced than that. I suggest you take closer notes as you continue your journey at sea. The sea is a wonderful teacher, that is if we care to listen to what it has to teach.

justbnme, I think you have inserted worship instead of love. The greatest commandment is to LOVE God with all your heart mind and soul.

chris b, thanks but I already have read the bible...several times over... for two years straight. I have gone to many churches but they do not have all the answers. In the end it is only your relationship with God that counts. I wonder if Jesus came back today how many modren day pharisees he would find believing hard *** things in the name of the most high.

kaguraofthewind, I'm sure it sure seems that way at times. Remember Christians and Muslims are people too with some of them being more spiritually advanced than others. It's best not to overly generalize.

Jesus said that if we love him we will keep his commandments. One of the commandments is to keep the sabbath holy. We take so much time for entertainment don't we? We should at least give God an hour every week to thank him for all that he has given us. Our every breath is a gift from him.

Jesus established a Church (even though some of it's members, like Judas, do not live up to the standards to which they are called) when he changed Caiphas name to Peter (Mt 16:18) and said upon this rock I will build my Church. Early Christian writings prove it is the Catholic Church which Christ founded. (Papal Infallibility Luke 22: 31-32)The Catholic Church was given the Holy Spirit to guide the Church into all truth.(John 16:12-13) It's dogmas never change (only discipline changes like Altar girls versus Altar boys, married priests kneeling or standing) Every belief of the Catholic Church is founded in Scripture and over time the Holy Spirit gives the Church the knowledge to interpret these beliefs even though they may be obscure from the beginning. (For example Jesus does not say there is three persons in one God, but implies this) Jesus healed the sick, raised people from the dead and forgave sins. "Whose sins you forgive they are forgiven them, whose sins you hold bound, they are held bound."(John 20:22-23) You cannot hold someone's sins bound unless you know them. Early Christian writings show that Jesus instituted this sacrament so that we may receive him worthly in communion (1 Cor 11:27-28). Look up Eucharistic Miracles on the internet. Down through the centuries and even to this very daY, THERE have been miracles where the bread and wine have turned into real flesh and blood (after the consecration of the Mass)even preserved for 1300 years without refrigeration. (John 6: 55-56) God is real and so is hell. Live like today is your last, and put God first. vdmt55 PS read Malachi 1 10-11 and you will see the ONGOING sacrifice of the Mass, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

I dont believe in a god, but I would think a god would rather see people following its teachings than worshipping it.

If you go to church everyweek and worship, then go out and hate people all week long what good is that????

God doesn't "need" anything. He simply requests that we love Him and each other. If we comply He is willing to share with us something so great, so profound, that our puny little material minds cannot conceive what it might be like. We can't think beyond the "material". For example, we think of ghost and we immediately put a form to it.

not really people think they know God because of the bible or Quaran. there are billions of Gods and Goddesses. I say pick another one one that doesnt have the mentality of a four year old in a candy store that cant have any.

GOD COULD SEE CREATION LIKE A SMALL HAIR ON HIS BACK THAT HE HAS NEVER NOTICED, BUT JUST BY HIS EXISTENCE THE HAIR GROWS AND HAS AN EXISTENCE OF ITS OWN THE HAIR COULD FALL OUT AND ANOTHER ONE TAKE ITS PLACE,THIS WOULD NOT AFFECT THE LORD ONE BIT.THE LORD NEEDS NO WORSHIP FROM ANY THING ,REMEMBER HES NOT HUMAN SO HE WONT HAVE THE SAME IDEALS THAT WE HAVE .ITS HUMANS THAT CRAVE PRAISE AND RESPECT AND WE SUPERIMPOSE THESE IDEALS ON GOD

He doesn't need nor require it - he desires it.

Have you ever heard a man say I told you I do the day we got married what more do you want from me? That one act of confirmation of his love for us will not sustain us for our lifetime, unlike a one time act on our part for God. But why would we claim to love someone and only want to give them a one time claim - just as I want my husband to remind me of his love for me more than just on the day we married - I want to praise and worship God more than the day he saved my soul - out of gratitude and respect, because he does more for me than just save my soul - he provides my every need every day.

Of course God doesn't nead our worship. We do it to show our love for God and to thank God for the Gifts we received.

God needs nothing from anyone. Justice demands that we worship Him, Who made us and everything around us.

No God does not need anything but He desires our love and worship. Don't you want your children to love you?
