Some places lock them to keep the homeless and the hookers from taking their daily baths. Other places lock them on nights that the drunks are out so they don't puke and crap all over the place. some places keep them locked all of the time that way they know when to watch that area of the store for people trying to take stuff into the bathrooms to steal.

Because people are PIGS. I work at a gas station, we do not lock our bathrooms, but I do wish that we would lock up at night (we`re open 24hrs), because all the drunks wrecking everything and **** all over the place.

Your quesion makes me laugh. Seriously though, they lock them because it is there way to "make sure" people buy something before using them. If they are left open, anyone can drive up and use them. This way they hold the key, and you must be a customer first to get the key. Ahhhhhh... more money. It's always about more money.

dont wanna get robbed, dont want bums using their potties, dont want pros turning tricks in their johns, dont want meth heads making meth.. all kinds of reasons..
i suggest u not to use gas station bathrooms, unless u can enter them from the inside, or oasises

they lock them so you have to look ridiculous carrying a 5 ton weight attached to the key.

Probably because maybe a kid will go in their and die of the disgusting smell and the kids family will sue them.

thats a good question(grin).i think they lock it ,and cant be bottered to open it until someone asks for the key.anyway,the field is cleaner i think
