Keep a close eye on the child. When it becomes inactive add more sugar.

Good Question...If you are adding any sugar (corn syrup, granulated sugar...) to milk, you are increasing the opportunity for microbial growth (both good and bad), particularly if you are not processing the mixture an extremely sanitary environment. If you must add a sweetening agent, do it just before serving, and don't let the milk sit around. If you're heating the milk before serving, microwaving the liquid would decrease, to some degree, the number of live bacterium, but I doubt if I'd still want to play that roulette game with my baby.
Was the addition of sugar to the milk pediatric advice?

How is this a vegetarian question and who on earth would put sugar in milk to give to a child?

As long as it is in a fridge it should be safe... but you might want to rethink the sugar...
