...choose to be taller or have a higher IQ or to be straight?

"Sexual orientation begins with a myriad intertwining influences — some genetic, some hormonal and gestational, some the product of cultural conditioning.

The mix for any individual is impossible to unpick. No one acquainted with the science can still believe that homosexuality is a choice or a disorder. It is part of normal human variation, just like traits such as height or intelligence to which genes and the environment both contribute."

Biomimietik, Great paste-job...you always pull out the same piece of homophobic misinformation and paste it in how clever ..you seem to be attracted to the gay questions like a fly to vinegar...what you say is nonsense of course.

wgr88, either the bible is wrong or your interpretation of it is wrong or homophobic, I guess you think the sun circles the Earth too though!

sunestauromai, The Times has the highest standards of reporting iit is world renowned for this.
I don't know of any gays who have successfully changed their sexuality through discredited ex-gay ministries..they were either not gay to begin with or they are now just supressing their homosexuality which is unlikely to be beneficial for them or anyone else involved with them in the long term.

'Choice' is a farce. The homophobes who believe that homosexuality is a 'choice' are the same people who ardently believe that a pregnant woman should not have the 'choice' to have an abortion... You can 'choose' only to accept what they believe is right... It's tiring arguing with homophobes...

A question I asked a while ago:

All humans make choices regardless of influences either genetic or otherwise. .As a Christian I believe we are created with a sinful nature never the less we make choices and are responsible for them..why would genetics mean it is not a choice genetics could influence your decision but it wouldnt change the fact you are making a choice....If there were a gene that certain people had that made red there favorite color it may well influence them to choose a red car but you cant say they didnt choose the car.

Homosexuality is a great danger that threatens the world's social fabric and a disease. In the same way as a virus kills the human body, this danger brings about subtle social collapse. Homosexuality, prostitution, pre-marital and extra-marital sex, sexual misdemeanors, pornography, sexual harassment and the increase of sex-related illnesses, are a number of important indications of the collapse of moral values.
With 22 million dead in 20 years, the proportion of sex-related illnesses is an important criterion to help indicate the extent of the problems facing humanity. According to the records of the World Health Organization (WHO), sex-related diseases forms one of the largest segments of illnesses. These reports show that of an estimated 333 million new cases of sexually transmitted diseases occur in the world every year.18 In addition, AIDS continues to be the most serious problem. Statistics of WHO indicate that the total number of AIDS deaths since the beginning of the epidemic have been 18.8 million persons.19 The report of the World Health Organization for the year 2000 sums up the situation succinctly: "AIDS is unique in its devastating impact on the social, economic and demographic underpinnings of development." Among the most frightening developments is the spread of homosexuality. The audacity of today's homosexuals makes one think of the end of the people of Lut who were noted for their homosexuality. As it says in the Qur'an, when they flamboyantly rejected Lut (as)'s invitation to the right path, Allah destroyed the city and its people by a great disaster. As a reminder, the remains of this perverse society still lie beneath the water of Lut's Lake (the Dead Sea).

Funny thing is that Spirits are not of either gender, and that we incarnate on earth as one or the other based on the trials, expiation's, and experiences we need to evolve. In this light, IS IT WRONG, to be of homosexual orientation? I couldn't and wouldn't give it an opinion. I personally believe that there are some things people need to not worry themselves so much about. Tolerance is a great thing.

No you can't choose. Some people like strawberry ice-cream others like vanilla. You don't learn to like strawberry, you do or you don't. Such preferences are embedded into the genes. I know two brothers, same family, school, parents, everything, but one is gay the other is not. The one who is gay likes guys and he can't help himself. Sure he can avoid having sex if he wants, but is that healthy for his mind? Needless to say that homosexuality is very common among animals (I suppose the devil does this to them also?) Bottom line is gay/lesbian is genetics.

And according to their own dogma...

Exodus 4:11
The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD?

So, since their creator makes people how they are, why are they against people who are as they were made? Those hypocrites should really mind their own business.

hummm Science Editor of The Times... that must be comparable to being the champion polar bear hunter in Iraq. They don't care about doing "good science" any more than they care about accurate and balanced news coverage.

Myriads of FORMER homosexuals argue against your point. My friend, Dennis Jernigan comes to mind. He wrote a book several years ago about his experiences after leaving the homosexual LIFESTYLE.

I have to question the validity of the research. Ask yourself this question:

"If homosexuality is normal, how long would the Race of Man exist if overnight everyone became 'normal'?"

Even without the help of AIDS, Mankind would cease to exist if homosexuality were the norm and all people were 'normal.'

Without intending to offend anyone, I must say that research scientists would do better trying to find a way to correct this... 'dysfunction,' than trying to 'justify it.'

First, God's Word The Holy Bible does NOT support your claim that this is anyway "normal" IF you love me keep my commandments, and not everyone that says unto me Lord Lord will enter The Kingdom of God but HE WHO DOES the will of my Father in Heaven, if you love Him enough to obey all His commandments [not suggestions] you will understand He created Adam and Eve, not adam and steve, We must understand the one who created has the right to say what is normal, free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com talk to me wgr88@yahoo.com God bless ya
