"Sexual orientation begins with a myriad intertwining influences — some genetic, some hormonal and gestational, some the product of cultural conditioning.

The mix for any individual is impossible to unpick. No one acquainted with the science can still believe that homosexuality is a choice or a disorder. It is part of normal human variation, just like traits such as height or intelligence to which genes and the environment both contribute."

Just because some trait or characteristic is part of variation, does not mean it should be tolerated.

I guess since congenital mental defects that can cause a Human to become a pshycotic, antisocial murderer should also be tolerated?

I am speaking from a totally philisophical, logical standpoint.

If you will tolerate one variation that is a pathway to Human extinction why not tolerate them all?

UPDATE:
No I do not support eugenics in any shape or form.
I am not a homophobe.
I am just asking a question from a macro philisophical, logical argument.

I'll put the same question to a different subject:
The Constitutional Right of Free Speech:
Once you start accepting removal or restriction of parts of this right, based on current events and current societal emotional states and feelings, where does it stop?
If you start accepting removal of free speech rights, then you will eventually have no free speech.

Same thing for completely accepting variations in Humans.
Since murder has always been a normal variation of the Human species, why not support those who choose to murder?
Since theft has always been a normal variation of the Human species, why not suport those who choose to steal?
Since pedophelia has always been a normal variation of the Human species, why not support those who choose to have sex with children?
Since incest has always been a normal variation of the Human species, why not support those who choose to have sex with their family?
Since homosexuality has always been a normal variation of the Human species, why not support those that choose to have sex with the same gender?

Well.......Why is the Human Species here?
Humans are on Earth for the same reason all other Life is on Earth.
Replication and continuation of the Species.
The societal rules that have developed over thousands of years are mostly directed at making sure to replication and survival of the species is supported.
Any society that has or does fully embrace homosexuality or other fringe variations is a dead end society. Either those societies are now gone or they are on their way to extinction.

There is no need for research to support tolerance. Wheather something is a choice or a genetic condition it should be supported. Life styles are just that a style of which to live your life. There are as many ways to live life as there are snowflakes.

Homosexuality will never be excepted as a way of life by all. People still refuse to believe we landed on the moon. Religions refuse to except each other. Everyone alive today has done something you don't like.

The answer is to be proud in yourself and live your life in the best posible light. Do not care what others think about you. You will achieve more than you believe you can.

In many societies, male or female homosexuality wasn't only tolerated, but also celebrated. Homosexuals often became political or religious leaders in their societies.

Unfortunately, even though the science would support tolerance, tolerance is one of those products of cultural conditioning. This applies to tolerance of anything that our society views as different.

I think the problem with the world today is a considerable lack of tollerance all round.
Everone is entirely unique and each one of us is answerable to the whole for our journey in life - It is absolutely our own personal choice how we live our lives and what choices we make. If on this journey we make choices that effect others then we either receive consequences or results as feedback (karma)
At the root of all life is 'free will' - live your life!!!
