Do not think at all... because you will end up no where. Why don't you just call him ask him to meet you somewhere and talk to him face to face.... sometimes people can just make things up on the phone but you can tell from face expression if they meant what they are saying or not... ask him and see what he has to say... its better you straighten everything out.. especially since he is having a baby soon.... if you like him and you need to know where you stand.....
I do not think you want to end up like you and your ex did? Its always good to take a break before starting a new relationship.... but that's my opinion.. see what he has to say and than make ur decision according to that..

Well the first thing you should do is slow down. Right now what you need is mostly space. I mean its alright to hang out with your friend in a limited way but avoid any type of romantic play . You both need to chill and gather your thoughts, I know you feel the need to rush, but there will be plenty of time later. For the moment try to clear your head and get back to basics. Start to learn who you are again first.

I don't think it's time for either of you to start up in a new relationship. Particularly him he needs to have time to devote himself to the new child on the way. Perhaps you should just give it time and once you have found yourself again and know how to be dependant by yourself without being in love with your ex so that you can be ready for a new relationship whether it's with this guy or not.
