My husband's brother's daughter is pregnant and she is only 12!! Her father dosen't have custody of her and she lives with her grandparents (he tried to get custody but couldn't)..My question is how could they let her do whatever she wanted and can't the state pick up on that as to show that they are unfit people to even be raising a kid?
This wouldn't of happened if she would have been living with her father but they made him out to be like he was unfit (which is untrue) but will that kill a little girl like that giving birth to a baby? She is so little and no one knows who got her pregnant cause she won't tell anyone but she was not raped or molested..
What do you all think?

Call the Department of Child Services. There is absolutely no way that a 12 year old can correctly parent a child. The DCS can provide parenting classes as well as other resources the girl will need: clothing, food, furniture.

I think a 12 year old has no business having sex in the first place. I don't know how grandparents could let the girl go out and be promiscuous. The state should be told about the girls pregnancy and the grandparents should lose custody of her. A hearing can be arranged so that the custody can be contested in cases like this. It is hard to say if the pregnancy will kill a girl. There are many 12 year olds who have had children. My grandmother had her first child at 13, but that was in the 1930's. Things were different back then. I think the father should bring this to the attention of the state, and get the daughter in his custody. Also he should find out who was having sex with his 12 year old daughter and beat them. Then beat his daughter for knowing better to have sex at such a young age.

It is possible, but rare. If she is not yet having a period, then she can't be pregnant. It is also very unhealthy. I don't know if it will kill her or not, but it's not suggested. I agree with Chloe. In america the laws are the same. A praternity test can be performed before the child is born to determine the father. He should also have to pay child support through work release in prison. I also think that it is a bad idea for her to raise the baby herself. She is a child and not mature enought or ready to handle the responsibility. The child would be best off in someone else's care. (preferably not the girl's grandparents) Having to be separated from something she created is enough emotional punishment. That will help her realize the gravity of her mistake.

Don't blame the kid if she got pregnant at 12. we just have to face the fact that she got pregnant at an early age, through that, everybody in the family would definitely learn from their mistakes. the least you can do is to guide her all the way, show her that she's being loved by everybody in the family inspite of what had happened to her and soon will realize that she has a family to call her own.
Kids who have gone problems like these no matter if she was raped nor molested or not, really needs attention from the family.

I think its great! You got so many of these fuddy dudy educated people on here saying its a bad thing, but this 12 year old will have the last laugh in the end. It will be tough, but if you have a family to help - its no problem. The single most important thing a woman can do in this world is have a baby. Its a womans greatest accomplishment. Congratulations! You'll have so many more years with your child than these educated fools who tell you its wrong. If its a girl, you'll have a close dear friend thats your own blood. You'll grow old knowing you can count on your offspring

Your niece is in for a life changing event. It will not kill her though. Before we knew better girls were considered old enough to get married as long as she was having a period. Often they were sold to the person who could pay the most as a wife. (Then this was not considered disgusting.) Women had lots of children before she was even fully developed.
My point is she will be fine.
As for the grandparents they clearly did not have control over her and should not have custody. If your brother in law can not get her back maybe you and your husband should consider stepping in. At least she will have a chance if your in control. And you can monitor her visits to the doctor. You can also ask questions and get answers to your biggest fears.

Very disturbing and very sad - Children having children - and they will never understand the true consequences of their actions untill it is far too late. She should not give birth to the child and the authorities should step in - I am not for terminations but there is a time and place for them and this is clearly one of those times. My heart goes out to you as this will cause a lot of pain and suffering for the whole family and it wont just go away. This child needs good parenting herself and love and discipline - Good Luck - I only hope it is not too late already

If she is really pregnant, then i think that the responsibility lies with the parents. I hate to say it, but i think that her parents have not been able to take care of her that's why it happens.
You know what? I dont blame the girl, i blame her parents for being so irresposble and letting their child do this kind of act in just an early age

Surely he can now prove them unfit parents!
Then he needs to pull in the reins on this baby making babies!
And someone needs prosecuted!
The girl's mother should be turned in for neglect for letting it happen!
